Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I drink. I love white wine. I have some almost every day, and I love drinking to get drunk, especially after a tough day with DD. Sorry, but it's a good stress reliever.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
i love drinking, but my idea of drinking is having a couple of glasses of wine at home with DH. if i get a bit tipsy, fine, but i'm not looking to get there per se.
i do occasionally go out with friends and drink, but it's usually only a few glasses of wine or a couple of martinis, and it's basically the same thing: if i get a bit tipsy, fine, but i'm not actively looking to get there.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I have no problem with how anyone else drinks, as long as it doesn't affect my life, or those I love.
I drink occasionally. A glass of wine, a bottle of smirnoff can be relaxing and refreshing after a long week at the office, but I can honestly say that I don't need alcohol to have a good time, and I always do it in the safety of my house, or when I have a DD to drive me home.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I enjoy drinking and getting my buzz on. There have been times where I've had too much and that is no fun. LI is annoying because you have to worry about drinking and driving. DH and I take turns.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I enjoy drinking, although I never begin the night intending to get drunk -- sometimes it just happens. Hangovers stink, but I love a good buzz.

I drink very rarely, but when I do, I love to get a bit buzzed. Not puke-drunk, but giddy and giggly.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
Back in the day I thought life was a party. I had fun, but quit when I had my DD. For no other reason than I wanted to be the best mommy I could and didn't think I could do that hungover. To each their own is my motto, I think some people drink too much and if they act like an A$$ when they do I just hang with them less.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I got it all out in college.
Honestly, I'm not anti-alcohol at all. I'm anti-bad relationships with alcohol and anti-drinking too much. I rarely drink anymore, but my DH and I are certified wine snobs - er, I mean enthusiasists.
I find it embarassing when people drink to the point of getting trashed or getting sick, but I don't think getting buzzed at a wedding or party (SO LONG AS YOU ARE NOT DRIVING) is just fine.
Alcohol can make me feel happy or overemotional, but I try not to drink enough that it really affects my mood or my feelings. If I drink once a week, that's a lot for me.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I did so much of it in college, that quite frankly, I am bored of it. A cosmo once in a while is great, but that's it. I have too many responsibilities in my life to get all out, falling down drunk, and waste an entire weekend sleeping it off. That's just me.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I love it.
I drink what tastes good to me, be it coffee, soda, alcohol.
I don't drink JUST to drink or get drunk...but if I happen to LOVE what I am drinking (mojito, sangria, wine, SoCo la la la) it could happen
I have a pretty decent tolerance, and I drink water like a BANSHEE...for every alcoholic drink, I have an equal glass of water.
although I may pee A LOT, I usually do not wake up hung over.
ETA: I did not drink excessively in college as I was a working full-time-going-to-college-full-time-at-night-paying-my-own-rent-so-couldn't-call-in-sick kinda gal.
I guess that could be why it still has not lost it's allure. though I started at about 15, drinking a 40 on the corner of my block.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I like to drink. It's not something i would do every weekend but DH and i like to go out with our friends have some drinks, dance and do crazy things. Or even just hang out with our friends at their place or ours and play some board games and drink.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I like drinking, but very small amounts. I don't think I've gotten drunk in about 5 or 6 years. Even my bach party I didn't get wasted.
I love wine, I'll have a glass at night to chill out. And maybe a beer or vodka tonic here and there when I go out. But I am so over binge drinking, I did that in college. A lot of our friends are still in the college mindframe and love to get wasted and play drinking games. I hate drinking games. I hate annoying drunk people. A couple of my friends get so obnoxious when they're drunk, so it's just not fun to hang out with them like that.
I never drink just to get drunk. I don't like how it makes me feel so I usually drink very little.
And about Jewish households, my DH's family don't really have alcohol in the house. My inlaws will get drunk at social gatherings (MIL drunk is funny) but they don't have wine with dinner, etc. My mom ALWAYS had wine in the house, and would sometimes drink a glass at night to unwind. I take after her.

Im sorry, I need to amend my previous post. I really like drinking. Its fun. I do it with DH, in my own house, and it leads to fun stuff. I dont NEED it, but from time to time, its all good.... If thats a bad thing, oh well.......
Yes yes yes!! ITA!!! I love drinking with DH.. at home (and at a bar on occasion). In fact, 50% of our weekend is enjoying cold drinks in our living room, on our deck, in the den, etc. We love booze but we don't have kids, and really don't drink during the week.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I was not a drinker/partier in college at all. I think I got tipsy twice in 4 years.
Now, I do drink socially with friends, and at home to relax. I may not drink for a week or two at a time, then have several days where I do.
When I drink socially, I enjoy getting a little tipsy/silly. i can be a bit uptight/self-conscious, and it defintely helps to relax me and loosen me up. I'm more fun when I've had a couple of drinks. I NEVER drink to the point of getting sick, and I always drink a lot of water and take advil before bed to avoid a hangover. I defintely have a specific group of friends that I drink more with, b/c I feel comfortable doing so. I also tend to drink more at house parties than out at bars. I prefer wine, and liquor- malibu and pineapple is my favorite.
At home, I may have a glass of wine or a malt beverage (mike's hard lime, hard cider, etc.) to relax, but that's not that often. When we're out to dinner, I'll often have a glass of wine.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
i like drinking, and usually do get drunk when i go out with friends about 2 or 3 times a month- but not too sloppy, just having a great time. I like the release, letting go of all the worry and thoughts and just having a drunken good time, hehe, it's fun.
i may have a glass of wine after a long day at work- but that's unusual. I usually only drink when out with friends or with my irish family.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I LOVE to drink with DH, friends and family. I stop at the liquor store every Friday night and select a couple of bottles of red and white for the weekend. It's a ritual, a life style. We grew up drinking wine in my house. DH makes his own wine. The only reason I don't drink during the week is bc I can't afford the extra calories
I can handle my liqour so I never lose control. I know when to say when.
I know this sounds terrible but I almost don't enjoy hanging around people that don't drink (at least social drinkers-preggers excluded of course)

Right, I am not a big fan of drinking. To me, booze doens't taste all that nice, it is expensive, it makes me feel sick, and in general, I just think its bad for society in general (at least the society I live in)
So the question I put to you is...Alcohol, booze, plonk...whatever you want to call it. How do you feel about it? Do you like drinking? Does it really make you feel good??? How do you feel about drunk people?
Elaborate.
I am the exact same way about it. If I could never ever dirnk again, it wouldnt bother me.
BTDT...I did it to enjoy the buzz and got bombed back in the day.

I'm like you. Often, I don't see the point in people going out and spending tons of money on something that you will only pee out the next day and curse because it made you sick.
That said, a good margarita is like an ice cream sundae. I won't say no!
ditto! im not a big drinker like i dont go home and whip out a glass of wine or anything. i drink socially and its usually only mixed drinks. i HATE beer. i dont like the taste of champagne and i never formed a liking for wine. i've only been drunk maybe 2 times in my life, neither experience was all that exciting.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
I used to drink ALOT and for the main purpose of getting drunk. Now I'll have a few just to relax, but it's not that often. Couple times a month maybe. Wine w/dinner etc. We did go out for Halloween this past Sat and had a good time but I had to plan for a babysitter in advance and it's just too much coordination to do that very often. Not worth it. But every now and then yes we both like to let loose.

Re: Drinking...what are your thoughts?
we like to drink socially, have wine with dinner and sometimes we come home and make cocktails. We do it to unwind and enjoy ourselves.
We certainly don't usually drink to the point of getting drunk but we do have something a few times a week.
