Driving to Florida with a 4 y/o by myself!!!
I am doing this trip no matter what!!!! It will be the last big trip before he starts school next year... I usually do the drive with my hubby but he can't drive that far anymore.. He will be flying down with my mother. We usually do one over night on the way down. But that is with 2 drivers.. I am giving myself 2 over nights... I figure I can make it to the Virgina/NC border the first day. Then go through the Carolina's the next day and then the rest of the trip on the 3rd day...
Has anyone ever done this??
FLYING IS NOT AN OPTION FOR ME AND MY SON.....

You are brave. I drive by myself all the time with my kids, but 5-6 hours is my limit. No advice, good luck!

I think your plan is good. You may even get it done faster. I would plan on driving 8 hours a day. But if you feel up to it and your DS is being good, I would do extra hours when you can. In theory, you could probably do 12 hours the first day, then stop for overnight. Then 12 more hours the next day. But that may be a bit much.

You can def do it,
I can do 16 hour days with a lot of stop...13 with no stops.

My Mom can't drive at all.. My brother was suppose to come with us, but he hasn't asked for the time off yet. So I doubt he will make it... I have driven to Virgina by myself with my son. I want to get the furthest I can the first day...

Another possibility if you can drive to VA by yourself and you can jump on the autotrain in VA and take it to FL.

I've done the drive by myself from Wisconsin to Florida and back again a few times with my two babes (who are now 3 and 4 years old). It's not easy but it can be done. Definitely take a lot of breaks and don't push yourself too far. If you need to stop, stop.

That is a drive!!! I feel better now that I know a lot of people have done long drives like that... I will stop frequently... I can drive 3 hours at a time with no problems usually.. DS is now potty trained so that will make for more stops but we have a porta potty for the car...

Only DH drives when we go, we make it to SC the first day before dinner and Naples this is second day even earlier. I would just do one night if possible! Good Luck :)
