Driving vs. LIRR/Subway?

I've had my license since 2008, live in Queens and have NEVER driven in NYC. I just won't do it. Especially on a Friday. Nightmare city.
So, my vote is for the train.

Driving vs. LIRR/Subway?

I drive to the city everyday from Massapequa Park and I work on Wall Street. I would drive and park the car in a lot especially with a tiny baby. You definitely want to bring the stroller if you want to sight see and navigating a crowded subway on a Friday with a 3 MO would be no fun. There is a parking lot on Water Street and Beekman that is pretty good and reasonably priced. That is where I leave my car. Waze it before you leave. It tells you which route is best and how to avoid traffic.

Unless you are planning on staying in the city and not driving home till 7 or 8, I would absolutely take the train.

I always drive. Love getting in the car and driving home. Train is too tiring with kids

Eta: you may want your Dh to drive in early , you take train in and drive home together

Take the train. I would never drive in on a Friday afternoon. Sunday morning maybe but during the week no way. You couldn't pay me to sit in that traffic. But then again I grew up in the city so taking the train doesn't phase me.

I would drive. More peace of mind and control over commute. Traffic in August is much lighter than what you would see at other times (winter holidays/school yr). LIRR means exposing your baby to germs from other commuters, too. Icon parking garages are all iver the city and reasonably priced. You can avoid much of the midtown traffic by taking the FDR South or crossing through Bklyn bridge.

Can my husband carpool with you!?!? Hahaha. He takes the LIRR and the subway and his commute sucks. He works on Fulton Street.

Train. I have taken DS into the city so many times and from a very young age and will never drive. Stroller is so easy on the train and you'd be shocked at how many people will help if you need it. I've never had any issues.

I would drive. The train sleeves me out too much.

Definitely drive. Too much of a pain to deal with baby bag, stroller etc and a 3 month old on the subway. Driving is so easy then you are on your schedule not rushing to make a train. Just try to get a coupon and find a garage before you go in. I always drive when my kids were little. Still prefer too.

Re: Driving vs. LIRR/Subway?

I go into DH's work like this and I find driving to be easier. I have to take the subway down to his work and getting through the turnstiles and whatnot is murder with a stroller. Then you have to look for elevators... They smell like pee and they are not easy to locate. I just drive in and have DH locate a local parking garage for me. It's super easy. I do it at Christmas time in the afternoon and it's still easy.
