Drop In Users ( please help)
I want to try to switch over to these from Dr. browns (w hich are making me nuts with the 100 parts )
How the heck do I figure this out?
On the side of the bottle ( an 8 oz one) it only goes up to 6 oz's?
I poured 7 oz's in a regular bottle and then poured it into the drop in's and it almost overflowed.
I am putting the water in , then the powder...but its coming out the top...
Then I shake it? Should I not shake it?
What am I doing wrong?
Need help. THANKS!

Re: Drop In Users ( please help)
Sorry I have no advice, but just wanted to suggest the playtex drop ins.
This is the only thing we have ever used for DS and they are sooo really easy to use.

Re: Drop In Users ( please help)
Drop ins are only 8 oz. So you need to measure for 6oz.
I try to pour 1/2 way, shake so powder isnt pouring out and then pour rest of water to fill line, shake again.

Re: Drop In Users ( please help)
I put the powder in first, then measured the water in a measuring cup, then shook it up. The new liners expand to 10oz, so it's really hard to mix accurately if you don't premeasure the water.

They used to go to 8oz (the liner) but now they go to 10oz. The bottles only show up to 6oz line. I never understood why they stopped there.

Re: Drop In Users ( please help)
I use drop ins!!
DS is only drinking 5 ounces at a time, but I called Playtex about the fact that the 8 ounce liners only have markers up to 6 ounces. They said 8 ounces is at the top rim of the liner. There wasn't room to mark the 8 ounce mark. Therefore, they do not recommend mixing powder formula in the drop in. If you want to use drop ins and use powder formula and your DC is drinking 8 ounces at a time, measure 8 ounces in another container (tupperware, etc.), then put the powder in, shake up, pour to very top of drop in. They'll be a small amount left over because the powder adds a small amount, but you can pour it into the next bottle. I use a formula pitcher from BRU and make 30 ounces at a time and pour into the bottles.
Let me know if you have questions.

Re: Drop In Users ( please help)
I use the measurements inside the bottle...i fill half way with water, put in powder and then fill up to the 8 ounce mark on the liner, not the bottle, however, the new expandable liners are a little easier!

Re: Drop In Users ( please help)
We have those slide thingys. They help you burp the air out. But half of them have fallen out. I just use the freebie one that comes with the liners at BRU now. The "Designer" ones broke more easily from being used so much since we used them for 2 years straight between the 2 kids. The cheap free ones never broke. Go figure.

Because the very top of the rim is where 8 ounces is and there is no room for a marking ;)

Re: Drop In Users ( please help)
The ones with the slide are to push the air out instead of trying to reach your hand up in there to do it. I think it takes too long using that slider though so I just use my hand anyway. I would stick to regular ones without the slide. They only come in 8 ounce size, but you can buy 10 ounce liners. If you mix as you go and DS eats an 8 ounce bottle, I would get the 10 ounce liners. If he eats less than that, like Emma eats 6 ounces, I just measure and pour the water in and then add powder and shake.

Re: Drop In Users ( please help)
I put in 4 scoops of the formula and fill half way with water then mix until disolved. Then I add in the rest of the water to the bottom rim of the bottle and mix again. It's been working pretty well for me.

Re: Drop In Users ( please help)
Donna, you need the "expandable" liners. It says "expandable" on the box of liners.
If you use the "original" bottles they will have 2 differents size, the "regular" and the "expandable".
ETA: I believe the expandable go to 10 oz. So it should be fine for 7-8 oz.
