Dropping the afternoon nap?
Wen did your DC drop their afternoon nap?
James is almost 11 months and I think it's over for us. He used to take a bottle around 2:30, go to sleep around 3 and sleep for about 2 hours. Not anymore!
He's fought and screamed and gagged and choked not wanting to take an afternoon nap for the past 5 days. Is it safe to say that this nap is done?
He's such a beast now by like 5pm that I want to pull my hair out. He's obviously way overtired, but just won't sleep. Because he's overtired, he's even having trouble falling asleep at his usual bedtime of 7:15. He would much rather pull himself up on his crib or practice crawling - pretty much do anything but sleep. He's on the go non-stop all day, you would think he's be exhausted! Hell, I'm exhausted just watching him move all day long!
ETA - I put him up in his crib at 4:25, he screamed for about 5 minutes and then fell right asleep. I knew the little booger was tired.

Re: Dropping the afternoon nap?
He could be wanting to phase out a nap.
I would try to push his morning nap to a later time.
DD dropped her morning nap, although there are days she definately does need it, but I've been able to p ush her until after lunch.

His morning nap, he usually goes down around 9:13-9:30 and sleeps until 11ish.
Right now, he can't even keep his head up and he's so fussy, but he WILL NOT sleep!

Re: Dropping the afternoon nap?
We didn't drop to 1 nap a day until 18 months.
You could try pushing his morning nap back and see if that compensates for the missing pm nap.

Re: Dropping the afternoon nap?
Just recently DD dropped hers (she's 11.5 months)... it's not dropped completely, some days she will go down for an hour in the afternoon but it's rare lately. But mostly she'll only nap in the afternoon if we're in the car.

Re: Dropping the afternoon nap?
around that age they started doing the same thing, and I was so upset they were trying to give up a nap. It only lasted for a week or so and then they went back to the two naps for a few more months. We transitioned to one nap at around 15 months.
