Re: drunk driving pictures on Newsday.com......I was all for it until
I have to say that I am really shocked by how many people are against this.
why was there never any opposition of pictures or footage on the news of people being arrested? they haven't been convicted yet either. but their pics are there, for all the world to see.
how is that different?
IMO, a guy being arrested for stealing a bike or someone's wallet is FAR less dangerous than a drunk driver.

#2 - I understand the argument "innocent until proven guilty" but in order to be arrested for a DWI/DUI you have to fail the breathalizer and/or other tests they give you....if you fail and it is obvious you are drunk/high and a danger to yourself or other people it is the cop's right and duty to arrest your azz. There is not much innocence to argue when arrested in these types of situations. DWI/DUI's are pretty black and white to me! If you look at the pictures on newsday.com, 95% of these people look completely tanked or high. You can barely see some of their eyes.
True and I agree that 99% of people are guilty. But what about that 1%? What about that .0001%?
I can guarantee you one thing. If I was ever pulled over and a cop's breathalizer malfunctioned and mis-read me, and I was later found innocent in a court of law, I would be sueing everybody for defamation of character. I'd sue the NCPD as a whole, the cop that arrested me, the county of Nassau, the Newsday and whatever media outlet posted the picture, everybody.
And i'd win too.
this is true but where are the .001% of these people, they have yet to come fwd. i think b/c they really don't exist in this case. The cops can't just bring you in, there is so much that goes into determining if they are drunk or not. And I think by now someone would be kicking and screaming if they were wrongfully accused.
I am in no way saying that it doesn't happened and people aren't wrongfully accused of crimes, but in this case, I think that the police have made the right decisions when arresting these guys and that's why they DO deserve their pictures printed. Hell I think all crimes big or small should have the same consequence, maybe people would be a lot less inclined to do the crime in the 1st place.
