DS has a Fever...

He started getting super cranky in the late afternoon yesterday. I thought it was his teeth (which were probably hurting him) but it was a fever as well. I gave him tylenol and then by the evening his temp went down. Then when he went to bed he was out in less than 5 seconds! I couldn't believe it. But he was up every half hour crying and crying because his fever was going back up. He was warm all night. Then at 6 am I gave him tylenol and now he doesn't seem as hot. I am going to monitor him today. He's been teething for the 2nd year molars. His hands are constantly in his mouth. He did not want his last bottle last night. Sometimes he cries as he's drinking the bottle.

Could the teething have sparked the fever? I never measured the temp because I knew he was hot and besides he would have screamed his head off and he was already upset as it was.

Yep - definitely think it is the teeth.

But if you feel he is burning up, you need to take his temp, what if it is too high and he needs to be monitored more closely

Re: DS has a Fever...

My doctor said a fever up to 100.5 can be teething related.

The first time I thought he was having a teething fever, I took his temp and it was a lot higher than I expected. Come to find out, he did have a virus. You really should take his temp. Chat Icon

You are right ladies. I will monitor him again and if he feels warm I will definitely take his temp.

He did throw up last night as well so I should have checked his temp...
