DS is showing signs that fall on the Autism spectrum ...i dont know how im going to do this .......
he has been showing some new and different behaviours recently and some DH and i have noticed as strange...
too many to list ..but our new speech therapist can today an she mainly does evaluations and she noticed alot of things that are a concern
she is going to review his 1st evaluation reports from december and we will then disscuss more testing ......
i am beside myself and cant stop crying ...my poor perfect baby boy has been struggerling for so long now and has been soooo challenging and now it all makes sense why
i just thought he was a challenging busy little 2 year old was just that being 2 ...now to hear someone tell me this is just devastating ......
we as a family have been through so much since both of their births and now to hear this ....
im just so scared of the unknown and what he has to face in the future .......

What kind of signs is he showing? I would have him evaluated by a developmental ped or a pediatric neurologist. I'm so sorry that you are going through this!

I'm sorry you are going through this and while it may seem upsetting and discouraging it is soooooo awesome that you are discovering these challenges early. You will see how much support is out there and everything will be fine

Many, many hugs to you. As terrifying as the diagnosis might be- it's NOT the end of everything. It's just the beginning of a different way of doing things for DS. I've seen EI and other programs do REMARKABLE things for children with autism.

I agree. A pediatric neurologist is ultimately the one who needs to give the diagnosis.

Although this news is most definitely overwhelming. Please try to find comfort in knowing you are doing what is best for him. Early intervention can make the biggest difference in his life. With a support system such as LIF and so many others out there I am confident you will be able to find the resources and aid you need for him.

Just because he shows some signs does not mean he is on the spectrum. I would ask for a psych. eval... They will do an ADOS or CARS and really tell you for sure.
Before my son had language he made very poor eye contact, especially with strangers. He is just language delayed, and that can sometimes look similar.
