DS starting daycare: questions
It was suggested that I bring extra clothing, but how much exactly? He's going to be 3 months so the biggies are spit-up and poop, but he's not known to poop up and out of diapers.
Also, did you stay with DC the first day for any piece of time?
How long did it take for you not to be sad about leaving them? I'm already sad and he hasn't started yet. I know he will thrive, but I'm going to miss him so much and I love to watch and be the 1st one to see the gains he makes each day.

Re: DS starting daycare: questions
We started DS when he was 5 months old....it was very hard in the beginning,, but I went right back to work so it gave me a distraction. Took about 2 weeks to start getting used to it.
Bring enough clothes to last a few days with about 1-2 changes per day. I had a big spitter so we were always bringing in new clothes. You can check his cubby too and they will give you any soiled clothes so you can gauge from that. The first 2 days or so, tI left him there for a few hours, maybe 4 or 5, and picked him up. After that it was full day no problems!
You will be fine!

We just left one outfit and two onesies, and never needed more than that.
I did not stay with DS at all, just dropped him off, cried A LOT, the daycare women was hugging me consoling my sobbing butt, LOL.
I was really sad for about 2 weeks, then it started to get easier, now, while Id much rather be with him. Its not a big sad ordeal to drop him off. He goes in and plays, I go off to work, no tears. Every once in a blue moon, he will tell me that he doesnt want me to go to work or that he wants to go with me and that still breaks my heart.
I would say after 2 weeks though it gets easier.

Re: DS starting daycare: questions
At that age, I would say 2 changes of clothes. I remember having to change DS more than once a day at that age because of spitting up or leaky diapers.
Now that DS is 2, I only have 1 change of clothes there for him.
I never stayed for any amount of time. In our case, it was easiest for him to adjust if I left ASAP, but he started daycare at 11 months. I still get sad when I leave him, but it doesn't hurt the way it used to and I know he is in good hands.

Re: DS starting daycare: questions
Mason started at 3 months. I cried the first two days. He was fine and didn't know any difference. I did come at lunch to visit every day for the first week and I haven't been there since. It's been over 5 months now since he's been there and he loves it. Some time in the middle of the 2nd week both me and his teachers noticed a big difference. He came out of his shell and he's been a bappy boy there since. As for clothes... first few months I got about 3 Carter's PJ's I left there. I think there's one extra now and he hasn't had any issues since he doesn't spit up as much.
It'll get easier. I drop him off now and I love to watch him sit and play on the floor with his friends. I'll catch up with other moms and head to work

Re: DS starting daycare: questions
At that age, I brought one extra outfit... pants, shirt, onesie and socks.
The week before he started, I went with him for about an hour to observe the classroom. I didn't stay once he started.
The sadness goes away!! You will both be fine!!

Re: DS starting daycare: questions
DS started at 11 weeks. he has one onesie and one outfit in his bag each day. if he doesnt need it it just stays in his bag. for some reason there have been times where he's pooped out and needed to be changed.
i did a trial run with them while i was still on maternity leave. i stayed for an hour and watched how they interacted with him. its been over a month now and im fully comfortable with leaving him there. i know hes in good hands.

Re: DS starting daycare: questions
I'll be on maternity leave until that Friday, so I figured we would start this monday and start with half days and progress to full days (mon and Tues will be half, wed, thur, and fri will be full). So I'm thinking I will bring 2 onsies and an extra footed PJ and 1 xtra pair of pants and just leave them there. I also got 2 extra sleep sacks to keep there too (to use instead of a blanket).

Re: DS starting daycare: questions
I think our daycare said two extra peices of clothing. The first week DS has two blowouts in one day so I stocked them up with about 7 outfits & onesies just in case.
Didn't stay with DS his first day. DH actually dropped him off. I did go & visit him at lunch.
The first day was tough - I cried. I missed him so much - plus seeing him in someone else's arms was tough. Each day it got a little bit easier. Now - it's great. It's so much fun to see him smile when I come to pick him up.

Re: DS starting daycare: questions
DS started at 3 months as well. I always keep 2 extra outfits there. DH and I both dropped him off the same day, I hung around for about 10 minutes while the teachers reassured me - I was crying. By week 2 or week 3 I wasn't sad anymore. He is doing wonderful there. He seems to have a lot of fun and really enjoys all the activities around him.
