DSLR camera owners and/or people who know about photography
What lenses to you own?
Which one do you use the most?
What do you recommend having?
I'm very close to getting the Nikon D80 which comes with a 18-135 mm lens, but do you need to have another one with a bigger zoom right off the getgo also?

Re: DSLR camera owners and/or people who know about photography
I have a Nikon D50 and 3 lenses: 28-80 mm, 55-200 mm and a 70-300 mm. I use the 55-200 now most of the time, but indoors I like the 28-80, especially if we are close enough. for outdoors, I like the 70-300. I switch depending on where I am shooting. I think to start, you will be fine with the 18-135.

I have an 18-55mm and a 55-200.
I use my 55-200 alot but I do need both.
If you don't want to be changing lenses frequently you can go with an 18-135 which basically covers you. Or the 18-200 which is a little pricier, especially with the VR (Vibration Reduction).
I have a Nikon so I am referring to Nikkor lenses.

I have 3 lenses.
28-70mm - I used this occassionally.
18-200mm - I use this the most now & recommend getting it. Most versatile!
70-300mm - I used to use this the most for portraits but now only use it for soccer games.

Would you bypass getting the 18-135 mm lens and buy the camera body only and get the 18-200mm lens, or do you think I would still need the 18-135?
This is all so confusing and it such a major purchase. I just want to make sure I spend my money wisely.

I have a 1.8 50MM fixed lens that is one of my favorites. Amazing boca and AMAZING quality. I have a fairly large collection of lenses and I buy most of them on Ebay. It is a great way to test a lens to see if you like it and then sell it if you don't. The lower apeture with image stabilization are the best.

Re: DSLR camera owners and/or people who know about photography
Depends on what you want. I have a 28-70? and a 70-300 something like that...it's bad that I don't remember...
Most of the time I use the normal zoom lens. I only use the tele at events (like a concert or a graduation when you're far away) or the zoo. Most of the time the smaller one is fine and I never had a tele before this camera and I did fine without them. My tele got me AMAZING close up photos of Bono at FH's graduation, and of FH even though he was sof ar form me in a sea of people
