Which DSLR camera do you recommend

and do you have any pictures to share? We are splurging, but trying to get something under $1000...I just got a new Olympus Stylus (point & shoot type) for Christmas, but I'm started to feel limited and I'm getting frustrated at how some of my pictures are coming out.

I am leaning towards the Digital Rebel xt. I have also been told if I go with the Rebel, to just buy the body and get a better lense. I dont know the first thing about lenses. So, any information on that would be appreciated also!

Thanks in advance! Chat Icon

I have the non-digital version of the Canon Rebel and I love it! If the digital version is anything like it, you won't be disappointed.

Did you both get the lenses that came with the camera, or did you upgrade? I really like the pictures with the sharp main object and blurred background, and I'm worried I wont be able to do that with the basic lense thats included...

I would do exactly this... actually I have exactly this... I have the canon rebel, then got a tamaron lens... B&H has a great price on the rebel body right now... if you want help picking out a lens, let me know!

eta: you can still take great photos with the lens that comes with in the kit... but imo it is totally worth it to upgrade for a few reasons... first you may want a lens where you can zoom in more... or getting a lens with a lower aperture helps to take better photos when the lighting conditions arent fabulous...

i really like the blurry background effect. But I also want to be able to use it for regular everyday pictures....which lense would I use for that?

You can use any lens for that... do you want to be able to zoom in closer?

I have these two lenses:

and I also have the lens that came with the kit... I never use that one, I shouldnt have bought it...
