Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
I rarely ask stupid questions, but I feel this one qualifies. One free pass...
I know what to pack. I pretty much have it all ready.
I was curious to know how many of you plan to pack make-up? I don't know if Ill be in a state in which I really give a rats butt what I look like other than being hygienic.
If you are a BTDT mom, did you even bother with make up the first time around? Do people really care? Or are they more concerned about the photo-ops?

Re: Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
I did i had a vag birth and felt amazing the next day, i showered got dress, blew out my hair and out on make up...my whole fam came up and we hung out all day, i felt like I was at a hotel just hanging out in my room, it was fun and make up helped me to feel human after that experience...

Re: Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
I ended up with a c-section so I was in the hospital for what felt like forever! I had my hairdryer and makeup bag with me. I ended up just slicking my hair back into a ponytail after showering but it did make me feel a little more human to put on a little makeup.

Re: Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
Whats funny is that a lot of what I will actually need and use I cant pack. Any meds, vitamins, hair dryer blah blah blah I still use every day for work. Two more weeks of summer school after tomorrow. 4 more weeks til Ed-lie. My gut tells me that I will go early but LORD please do not let me go into labor while I am at work

shhhhh! Don't even utter such horrid thoughts
It won't happen.... it CAN'T happen....
No giant work spectacles please
(I will say though, it wouldn't be too terribly inconvenient... I work across the street from the hospital... I could literally walk to L&D wtihin 10 min.....
but it WON'T happen to either of us.... you hear that Scone and Ed-lie?

Re: Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
I remember packing makeup thinking that if I can't sleep, I might want to play with my makeup. I do that sometimes, like a little girl. Now I cannot remember whether I used it.

Re: Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
oh boy.... yeah, I would rather deliver by myself too
I work at stony brook u... and I'm delivering there (also went to undergrad there, grad there, work there now, husband works there.... it's a giant extended family )
much better option than kings county

Re: Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
I did not pack makeup and at no point in my hospital stay did I miss it.
I was in no shape to apply it and people could give a crap about how I looked. They were there to see the baby

I wore makeup when we were leaving the hospital. People were taking a ton of pictures.

Re: Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
This is not a dumb question! I had a c-section adn still managed to touch up my make-up before visitors came! I think the hospital gown brought out my eyes No, but in all honesty, it felt good to put on make-up and have my act together.

Re: Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
I didn't have it when I delivered Hayley...I didn't finish packing my bag when I delivered @35 weeks. My SIL came back to my house to finish gathering the stuff I didn't pack. I didn't even ask her for makeup.

Re: Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
PACK the Make Up!
Even drugged up after my C/S I wanted it. I kept my concealer and lipgloss in my little table tray and applied often when I had ten thousand visitors. It will make you feel better I swear.

Re: Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
I brought mine, and used it sparingly. It DOES make you feel better, even though I looked like $hit anyway, at least I looked like made-up $hit.

Re: Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
Oh yeah, I used it. After I was able to pull my arse out of bed from my c-section, I showered and put on makeup before my friends/family came to visit me. Just my usual...mascara and face powder.

Re: Dumb hospital bag/hospital stay question
I was induced and the morning that they started me on pitocin, I took a shower, did my hair, including straight ironing it and did my makeup...I felt better after that
