dying hair... WWYD?
I have horrible roots. I have been growing out my natural color, Ash-dirty-blonde from a basically platinum blonde. I had been coloring the bottom every two months but it was so bleached it doesn't hold color well & I need to repeat it every two months. Now DH & I are going on vacation & I would love to have my hair colored but I am so scared.
When she dyes my hair she doesn't touch my scalp because she only does the bottom & my own color is grown out about 6-7 inches already.
DH is against me even chancing it. But I don't want to go anywhere with these roots!! I feel like it would be fine.

Re: dying hair... WWYD?
My doctor told me it was fine to dye my hair after the first trimester. I have naturally brown hair (I think, lol) and have always dyed it blonde. I didn't want to keep up with it that much through the pregnancy even though my doc said it was ok. So I dyed it back to brown, no roots to deal with.

Re: dying hair... WWYD?
My m/w told me that it's ok after the first trimester. BUT ... she'd prefer if I found something that doesn't have to sit on my scalp for a long time, because dyes can get into your bloodstream. I found a boxed dye that worked in 10 minutes.

I highlight my hair, but didn't do it until after the 1st trimester. I was too paranoid.

Re: dying hair... WWYD?
i tthink this depends on your own comfort level... i have the same issues as you... i was dying my hair bleach blonde before i got preggo & my natural hair color is like a dirty blonde.... so needless to say, my roots are VERY noticeable!
my GYN (who i was seeing before i moved onto my OB) said that hair dying was fine.... i personally dont feel comfortable doing it, so i havent even asked my OB & im just letting my roots grow out... i plan on cutting my hair fairly short before the baby comes

Re: dying hair... WWYD?
I have terrible roots from highlighting... same as you: dark blond to blonder.
I'm waiting. I can't tell you why. I'm sure it's fine for you & baby... it's just that I really smell the bleach, ect from the highlighting process for a few days AFTER the job is done (my sensitive nose).
When I used to darken my hair, I felt like that was less caustic.

Just a tip - make sure the salon/home where you have it done is well ventilated. If it's a salon, I read they recommend taking the first morning appointment, because the salon won't have as many fumes from perms and dye as it does later in the day.
You should be fine if it's not touching your roots..just make sure it's well ventilated because of the fumes.

My doctor said it was fine as long as I don't drink the hair dye. No joke, those were his exact words. lol

Re: dying hair... WWYD?
I'm 38 weeks and just dyed my hair today with Natural instincts. I have a wedding tomorrow and could not stand the way my hair looked anymore. I wore gloves, made sure to open all the windows, went for a darker color to make it easier and only let it sit on my hair for seven minutes. My hair looks/feels great and so do I.

Re: dying hair... WWYD?
My doctor and salon says after first tri, I've colored(highlighted) 2 times during this pregnancy. I'm running to salon for a full makeover once this baby is out! As long as ur comfortable, I think it's ok.

Re: dying hair... WWYD?
After the first tri it is fine. I had it done 1x at around 14-15 weeks. I'm planning to go again next week before my shower.
