Ear Plugs for Child with Tubes
If your child has tubes what ear plugs are you getting/have? I have tried the wax ones they just fall out. I am desperate to find ear plugs that will fit into my DS's ears he is 16 months. If you don't use ear plugs what do you do when they are going in the pool? I mean he won't be swimming under water but I don't want to accidentally get water in his ear by splashing. Please help!!
TIA! Corinne

Same here. I really want to put him back in but I can't until I have a solution. I can't find any small enough anywhere.

Re: Ear Plugs for Child with Tubes
what about the smushy silicone ones. they are totally squishy like play-doh. you can make them as small as you need to fit in the ear. i have them for my 7 year old, but we've used them for a couple of years (although more for noise reduction than anything else) he loves them. oh, and i got mine at cvs.

Re: Ear Plugs for Child with Tubes
My ENT sized her up and gave her some
They are silicone I guess. They are shaped and fit into her ear. One part of it is shaped to fit into one of the folds on her ear so it stays put.
I think they are 'diver' plug type things. The package it came in says for divers and post ear trama (like ear drums or tubes)
AJ is wearing XS but they came in XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL
Cost me $15 for her pair.. she's been wearing them EVERY single bath since her procedure back in January. She's even gotten to the point that when she knows its bathtime she touches her ears.
ETA: I'll try to remember to take a photo tonight and post it.

Re: Ear Plugs for Child with Tubes
they can get water in their ears, I have never used plugs while miki was swimming
my ENT told me that it is only an issue with them going deep under water (3 feet or more - as in diving, etc) and he said even then, it will nto damage the tube, just cause pain for them from the pressure
surface swimming is 100% fine, no plugs needed

Re: Ear Plugs for Child with Tubes
I was told sprinkler and tub okay, as long as they are not submerged. We use the putty for the tub and I skipped swimming this year and we did music. I would rather play it safe than sorry..I do not want to go through the surgery again to put them back in.

Origionally...My ENT said the same. But..now DD has had 3 ear infections AFTER tubes being placed so he wants her to use them for the tub and pool. now if only the ones he gave us would stay in.

Re: Ear Plugs for Child with Tubes
We never used tubes. Our ENT said they were only necessary for going under 8 feet of water or more.

Ours told us the same thing and said that bath water was more dangerous because of the soap that could build up.
