You can just call EI in your county and request an eval. You don't need a referral or anything from your pediatrician, however, they will have to fill out forms for you. They have 30 days from the day you call to get everything done.

My pediatrician didn't see a reason for EI, so I called them all by myself. DS started services at 11 months an now at 26 still gets one session a week. Suffolk County Health Department Division of Services for Children with Special Needs Phone: 631-853-3100

Re: early intervention eval
if you think there is an issue, do. not. wait. for your pediatrician. No referral is needed. Just call yourself (you will likely be contacted AND evaluated within the 2 weeks).

Same here, we started at 24 months, had session twice a week for about 11 months. DS was just discharged from the program in August.

Re: early intervention eval
A neonatologist at the high risk new born clinic through North Shore called first. We would not have known that their was a problem. The twins were 5 months old/3 months adjusted. They were both approved for PT 2 times a week. It is such a wonderful service!!!! I really hope we can keep them in the program as long as possible.

I did a search online and found children's therapy center for children. They are great did everything for me. Highly recommend them. My dd is getting speech and family training twice a week. I cannot believe the improvement she has made with her teachers
