east northport/elwood sd
DH and I have been looking at homes in Commack, Smithtown, Kings Park and Hauppauge. Now, we're thinking of expanding our radius to East Northport.
Can anyone tell me about the East Northport area and the Elwood school district?
I keep seeing that Commack SD is very good, so I am curious on how Elwood compares?
Any feedback would be appreciated - TIA

FWIW, like many schools, they're facing budget problems (program cuts) and there has been talk about consolidating with other school districts.

Your search sounds like our search...lol.
We have looked in all those areas.
We are mainly focusing on Smithtown and Commack however if I find a house in ENP/NP SD I would also be very happy.
I do know in the past Elwood was rate as a great school but as you know there seems to be some financial issues in that district but I am not educated enough on the particulars so I cant say. I just do know it was always a good district.
Maybe we will neighbors somewhere! LOL

Elwood and Commack are both very good districts! We were looking at houses only in those districts. I know there was talk of Elwood merging recently b/c it is a small district.
We ended up in Commack SD only b/c we found a house there first

I grew up in that area and I would say look for a house in Enpt with either COmmack or Northport Schools. Not that Elwood is bad but the other two are better.

We are also looking in E.Northport/Commack area but we want to be in the Commack SD. I have heard nothing but good things about the Elwood SD. Alot of homes in the E. Northport area are Commmack schools. Good Luck!

east northport can be elwood, commack or northport school district and maybe even harborfields.
all are good schools!

I really didn't think looking for a home would be so difficult...just when you think you found a home...there's something that you either have to compromise on, or continue hunting.

They are all good.
Elwood is very small and doesn't have a very good library system.
