Ebayers - feedback question

Can you leave positive feedback with a slightly negative comment?

I bought a replacement blade for my magic bullet blender and it arrived today (timing was okay) packed in just a padded envelope, when I opened the package the blade had pierced the envelope and I cut my hand. I am so annoyed, all he had to do was wrap it in some bubble wrap...

So I left a positive rating, with negative feedback. Is that really annoying to sellers???

I've done this before. If you are generally satisified with the transaction, but there might have been one thing you werent happy with.

I would imagine they'd rather get a positive rating with a negative comment, than a negative rating.

Re: Ebayers - feedback question

yea thats fine- but personally if I cut my hand because he didnt wrap the blade properly- I think I would have gone neutral- possibly negative- pretty dangerous

Re: Ebayers - feedback question

Yes it's called leaving a "soft positive".

Here's something you probably didn't know... sellers are not allowed to do this.

Since sellers can't leave negative feedback, they occasionally will leave a positive with some negative comments in the words if they are not happy with you.

If you found this to happen to you, you can report this feedback to ebay and the seller would probably get suspended over it.

its SOOO ANNOYING, especially for non-paying ebayers. Yes, they get a strike but other sellers don't know that. At least when someone had negative feedback with comments like "non-paying" you could refuse the sale.

This is sooo wrong on eBay's part. They are being increditbly biased to the buyer and it does not help the seller. I am both a buyer and a seller and I still think this is wrong!

You can automatically block bidders if they have a certain number of strikes on their record. It's in the listing options.

Re: Ebayers - feedback question

I also hate that sellers now cannot leave negative feedback. I've found that most sellers now just don't bother to leave any feedback AT ALL. I am a frequent buyer and less frequent seller. I pay immediately upon buying anything and haven't gotten a seller to leave me feedback at all in several months. So now when I go to sell something, I have less feedback than I normally would. Luckily all my feedback is positive, but still...

Do you leave them feedback? As a seller I only leave feedback after the buyer has left it for me. If you want some good feedback come buy all my stuff I'll take very good care of you, you can even tell me what to write Chat Icon .

To the OP did you contact the seller? Do you want the seller to do anythin for you? If i had a problem I would contact the seller before leaving feedback.

Re: Ebayers - feedback question

I only leave positive feedback for a buyer once I receive it because with no negative feedback option, I'm more cautious as a seller.

See I am a high volume seller on ebay and I have discussed this with other sellers.

I just leave feedback for my buyers immediately after they pay.

Why am I going to withhold feedback? As a seller you can't do JACK against a buyer. I can understand you when you say you are "more cautious". But really... how is leaving feedback first going to hurt you?

If you leave the feedback first, you are stroking the buyer's egos which can only help in your transaction since the buyers now have all the power.

And lets say for instance a buyer does screw you. What's really going to happen if you left nice positive feedback first before they screwed you? Nothing really. If you didn't leave any feedback for them and they screw you, you still can't say anything negative in your feedback against them (even if you leave a positive plus mark feedback). If you say anything negative about a buyer (even something like *took forever to pay*)... you can get suspended if that buyer reports the feedback to ebay.

So I simply fire the first welcome gesture. Immediate feedback after they pay. It can only help IMO.

I leave feedback every, single time. I haven't left negative feedback ever. I left neutral once -- two years ago.
