eczema diagnosis
if your child has eczema, could you please FM me? I know this is not a "bad" thing, but my poor little girl has such rough skin all over, and to think she might have it forever just totally bums me out. Just wondering how common this is. When she was a baby, they told me it was just dry skin, but now that she's 19 months and it's so much worse they realize it's eczema. :(

Re: eczema diagnosis
My child doesn't, but I just wanted to send some HUGS and let you know that I've had it since I was an infant and its very manageable. I think it is more common than we think. And I also know that people do outgrow it, so keep that in mind.

Re: eczema diagnosis
Hi. My son also has eczema. He is two now and they diagnosed it when he was about 6 months. It is very common. I will FM you with more info. Don't worry, it can be uncomfortable for them, but with the right care it is ok.

Re: eczema diagnosis
It is usually a sign of an allergy, usually a milk intolerance, I use aquaphor and it works wonders, remember no hot baths, no soap, mild clothes detergent.

Re: eczema diagnosis
my daughter has it. It was terrible when she was an infant....bathtime was a nightmare because she would scratch herself until she bled Once you get the right meds and it's under control, it really can be manageable.
You may want to get referred to a pediatric dermatologist for the best approach....I did this for Emily and since, her skin has never looked better! My ped kept giving us new cortisones to use but the specialist gave us other creams that worked WONDERS!

Re: eczema diagnosis
My DH and my neice both have severe eczema. i have to say what really worked is to get rid of all scented detergents(all free and clear or any other fragrance and dye free), soaps(we use aveeno unscented body wash), of course no scented lotions. Everything FREE. This will help immensely. Ther is also light therapy not sure if they do this with babies though. Good luck!
