Egg Retrieval Update and Fertilization Report
Egg retrieval went really well yesterday. It was nice and smooth from beginning to end and they retrieved 25 eggs!!! I practically started crying tears of joy when they showed us the number. They gave me double the iv fluid afterwards since they were worried about overstimulation. It took a little longer to get out of there but I felt comfortable and was so relieved. DH only had to give one sample so hopefully they have enough good sperm from there. Waiting for my nurse to call today with the fertilization report. I will post an update once I know, fingers crossed!!
I also started the progesterone shots Saturday night - ouch! I've been pretty brave with all of these injections but the soreness afterwards is rough. Last night I had DH really rub the area after he injected it and I put on a heating pad. It seems to have helped a little. My other cheek still hurts from Saturday, oh well! This is all without a doubt worth it if it eventually leads to a healthy baby!
Fertilization Update: Out of the 25 eggs, 19 were mature enough for them to do the ICSI. And out of those 19, 15 were successfully fertilized. She said we have 15 ongoing embryos, woohoo! Now we wait to see how many make it to day 5 in which they will do the genetic testing on those. As long as my lining is okay they will keep one fresh and freeze the rest! I go in on Thursday for blood work and a scan. Transfer is tentatively set for Saturday. Hopefully this week goes fast!

And thank you for sharing your details, that's awesome! Our RE is worried about overstimulation. If I feel the slightest bit unwell they want us to freeze and skip the fresh cycle. Not the end of the world but I was starting to get my hopes up with trying this cycle. We'll see as the week goes on. If you don't mind me asking, did you do a fresh cycle when you had 15 embryos?

Ask anything. I'm an open book on here....in real life not so much. I felt fine so no overstimulation. I totally get wanting to finish this cycle and not back to the waiting game so hopefully you are feeling well. Yes, I did a fresh cycle. We transferred 2 and I got pregnant with one. I did have a lot of bleeding at 5-6 weeks so it may have been 2 originally but we are unsure. 15 is a great number to start with! Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for checking in, unfortunately, no :(. They feel my lining is too thin and my body not fully up for the fresh transfer (I do feel okay though and never got sick from the overstimulation which is good). They want to do a freeze all this time. Then their lab is closed until the new year and January is packed with all the people that couldn't originally try to get in for December. The next time we try will be February. Not the end of the world but it just made me have one of those ugh moments where TTC can be so easy for some couples and here we are having to be penciled in to even try lol. Hopefully it doesn't take too long for AF to come and we can then have a better idea of when everything will be (I'm usually pretty regular). I'm sure it's for the best - we have some time to take a little break and enjoy the holidays, etc. Hopefully my lining cooperates during the FET cycle.
I'm waiting to hear from our nurse on how many embryos made it to today and then the genetic testing results. Fingers crossed!!

Oh I'm sorry that's very disappointing. It's never easy right?! I have to wait until January because of the shut down of the lab. At first I was so disappointed but now I'm glad. I'm enjoying the holidays without the infertility stress. Also if I got a negative pregnancy test it would have completely ruined my holidays so now I'm very glad that it didn't work out for a December cycle for me.
Hoping for a great fertilization report for you today!

Thanks everyone! We ended up with 10 embryos, phew! Definitely a good number it's just crazy and a little unnerving how much the original number dwindles down. The amount we had to pay for the PGD testing covered up to 10 embryos so that worked out well. We should have the genetic testing results in about two weeks.
Although we don't want to know the sex, once the testing results are in I asked DH if he would mind if I ask whomever what the breakout of males vs. females is out of the 10 lol. I told him I'll say unless they're all the same sex then please don't tell me but I am curious what the boy/girl ratio is haha. I told him it has no bearing on anything it's just actually something FUN we can get out of this in the meantime. He said it's not something he would've thought about doing but is fine if I want to. Just something to smile about for a little :).

BTW I think giving yourself a break before transfer is a good thing. Sometimes our bodies need to recover from all the stims to be in tip top condition for the embryo. Good luck
