Elevated FSH?
So, RE called with CD 3 results and said FSH was "elevated". I, not even thinking, did not ask for the specific number.
He implied that this may just be due to my maternal "age" (37) but we should be aggressive going forward.
I understand what elevated FSH means. Anyone have any experience to share regarding their protocol with an elevated FSH number, and if the chances of a successful IVF are highly diminished?
I'm having surgery on Fri. to remove my tubes - the IVF interview follows where I'm sure I can get more info, but any thoughts would really help right now - I'm feeling pretty down today...

Re: Elevated FSH?
I have elevated FSH...I was on a high dosage medication IVF protocol and ended up responding well...I had 15 eggs but only 5 survived, which is usually indicant of high FSH women, the eggs are low quality.
I was successful on my first IVf after 2 yrs of natural and IUI medicated cycles.
GOOD LUCK! Have faith!

Re: Elevated FSH?
Thank you so much for the replies. The nurse from the RE office called me this morning and I found out that my # is 14.1. However, everything else looks great. So, I guess we'll see what happens on my next CD 3 test.
Having my tubes removed tomorrow is both a relief and so depressing - makes the IVF journey so "final", if you know what I mean? Now it's really my only shot.
Thanks again for the replies!!

You should read Dr. Toth's e-book. It's free and talks about how infection can raise your fsh. You could have infections and not even know it. His treatment is VERY expensive but your Dr may be able to approximate the oral part of it and Dr T does give instruction for that in the book.
The thing that made me think this for you is the tubal issues. Chances are if you have tubal issues you have had some sort of infection in the past. I also have high fsh and was diagnosed with an infection by Dr.T. I have noticed a LOT of differences in the way I feel and my EWCM since it. Good luck!

Re: Elevated FSH?
This is interesting - an infection *could* explain why I was able to get pg with my son with no problems. The tube issues (we assume) came post-pg. I will have to look at the book. Thanks!

Re: Elevated FSH?
I have a good friend who was diagnosed with severely elevated FSH levels and was told by her RE the only way she would get pregnant was with a donor egg.
She tried her luck at injectable IUI's anyway, and conceived on her 2nd try
