Empty sac at 7 1/2 weeks....no hope? UPDATE on bottom
Went for first sonogram today it was an empty sac. I am supposed to be 7 weeks 3 days. I had the sonogram at the perinatal doctor and I have an obgyn appointment on wednesday...should I still go and double check? So heartbroken...feel like I have been pregnant all year!!!!!

Re: Empty sac at 7 1/2 weeks....no hope?
I also had an empty sac at what was supposed to be 7 1/2 weeks. I went back a week later and there was a heartbeat. They ended up adjusting my due date by a week and a half I think. I now have a healthy and happy 2 1/2 year old boy!! Good Luck and I hope everything works out!!

I would keep your appt. Could your dates be off? Did the perinatal dr. ask you to repeat the sono?

Re: Empty sac at 7 1/2 weeks....no hope?
If ur calculations are right then at 7.5wks you would expect to not only see the baby but the HB too. But if you ovulated later than you thought there is a chance you aren't as far along as you think in which case an empty sac might be nothing more than its too early to see. Truthfully, at this point it's a wait and see. I would absolutely get a second opinion or at the very least, a second sono in a week to two weeks.
Good luck...... I hope it all works out.

I would definetaly wait and see before throwing towel in all together. I wish you the best of luck...maybe dates are off with a late implanter.

Empty sac at 7 1/2 weeks....no hope?
Thanks!!! I was trying very hard to get pregnant after our late term loss in September, so I know the dates we dtd last month, and I got a positive pregnancy test 4 days before my missed period. Based on this info, it seems highly unlikely that I would be measuring 2 weeks behind. I am trying to hold out hope, but even the dr said it doesn't look good. I think I am going to keep my obgyn appt though. Thanks for your prayers...I will update you later this week.

Re: Empty sac at 7 1/2 weeks....no hope?
I don't want to be negative, because I know there is always hope...but at that stage you should def. be able to see a baby and a heartbeat. Even if you were just 6 weeks they should be able to see something. I'll say a prayer, you never know..if your dates are off then it could turn out ok! I'm sorry you're going through this..

Empty sac at 7 1/2 weeks....no hope?
yes you should absolutely see a baby and heartbeat by 7.5w if your dates are accurate. did they see ANYTHING - a fetal pole or yolk? i would be less concerned about not seeing the heartbeat and more concerned about the entire sac being empty. all hope is not lost but you should def see something besides just a sac, especially at a peri where im guessing they have a better, more high quality sono. im so sorry. i would def keep the appointment and get another opinion, you just never know. miracles do happen.

Empty sac at 7 1/2 weeks....no hope?
Thanks girls!! I spoke with my obgyn last night (Had first sono at Perinatal dr) and he is having me get blood work done today and Thursday to check levels and come in Friday for another sonogram. I am not getting excited...I pretty much know it is over, but glad they are being thorough and following up. I will update you friday!!!

FYI...at 6w with my first LO there was a sac and pole...at 7w there was NOTHING...literally empty and my HCG came back 400 higher than the few days before (not a good sign)...I went in 2 days later for a D&C (after having 4 years of IV and a loss at 14weeks I just wanted it over and move on again.)
Before my D&C they did another sono, still nothing...well, RE came in and said "this is so strange" the took more blood and during the internal sono they did an US, pushed down so hard and my uterus flipped completely...guess what? yup, there was a baby and a heart beat AND the labl had screwed up my bloodwork the few days before...
Miracles happen, my DS is 2.5 now and healthy as can be...DONT GIVE UP HOPE anything is possible...science isnt fool proof and neither are these machines...
BTW my son measured over a week behind from the start of conception and since hes been born has been in the 95% for height and weight...
ill say a prayer for you and hope everything is ok! (hugs)

JulieLO, your story just made me cry. I can't imagine the tears you shed when you found out. Amazing (and what unnecessary heartbreak). Anyway, hope that's the original poster's luck...happiness and health at the end of it all.
