Empty yolk sac at 5wks?

Just had my first appt. Did an u/s and the implantation site was there but nothing else. They said it was common since I was so early. I've never been to the dr so early in one of my pregnancies so that's never happened before and I am really freaked. Anyone else have this and next appt baby was there?

BTW, Dr. Cohen was great. I really like him. Thanks for the recommendations.

Thanks,
Kathy

5 weeks is really early to see anything.

My doctor wouldn't see me until after 6 weeks.

same thing happened when i went & my dr said the sac was irregular shaped.
my dating was wrong i thought i was further than i was. the next week when i went everything was there & it looked like a perfect shape.
try to stay calm & relaxed and speaking from experience dont google it!

I think 5 weeks is very early to see anything. I wouldn't worry too much, I am sure you will see more progress at your next appt.

Congrats by the way!

This happened to me...first time I went there was nothing at all....the next week an empty sac...2.5 wks later the baby was there with a heartbeat-at that appt I was 8 wks 3 days...it's just too early, but I know how you feel-when I went and saw the empty sac I was also having spotting-so you just think the worst. Next time around I will definitely not be going to the doctor for a sono that early.

5 weeks is SO early that there is the chance of not seeing anything at all.

This was my sono when I was pregnant with my DD at 5w2d... you can BARELY make out the gestational sac.

She is now a healthy rambuctious 13 month old!

Thanks everyone! You are all calming me down. We could definitely see the sac so I'll just hold my hat on that. I definitely know when my period started but since I wasn't "trying" maybe I ovulated later than usual.

Thanks again. Now just to stay sane for 2wks until my next appt, lol.
