Barking like a seal is unfortunately one of the #1 symptom of Croup... try running the steam in the shower or take her outside in the brisk cool air too.
Hope she feels better soon!

Oh shoot!!! She has no fever, but is congested. I'm taking her to the ped this afternoon. Do they do anything for croupe?

Sounds like croupe to me.
My ped told me to either stand in hot/steamy bathroom with DC and also cold fresh air too.

Re: Erin was barking like a seal last night
likely croup but you need to watch it doesn't turn into something more severe.
Cool mist humidifer ALL DAY LONG.
Hope it's over quickly for you.

When DS had it it was bad... they gave him a liquid steroid for 5 days... it was pretty much gone in 3 though...

Re: Erin was barking like a seal last night
Well we went to the ped and she said Erin has the virus that causes croupe but it hasn't fully turned into croupe yet. She gave us steroids for 3 days to try to keep it from getting worse. I'll also get the humidifier out. Keeping fingers crossed for a peaceful night. I'm exhausted after last night.
