Eta: what brand of fleece jackets do you use that are thin and warm? logistics of convertible car seats in cold or bad weather...

What do you do to bundle up your kids when bringing them out to use convertible car seats when it's really cold/snowing/raining?

Meaning, since they're not supposed to be in coats in the car seats.

For the infant seats, i would just zip them into the Bundle Me's inside the house, put a hat on them and carry them out to the car like that.

But for the convertibles, do you put their jackets on just to carry them to the car and then take it off before putting them in seat? (which is hard enough to catch them to put on their jackets as it is, esp now that my daughter unzips and slips out of hers!)

Do you wrap them in a blanket and then un-do it?

Is there any easier way?
I have a hard enough time getting out of the house with them as it is!

For my 3 YO twins, they are forward facing. I put on their winter coats, sit them in their seats and take the coats off before buckling them in. Then when we get out of the car, they just stand up and i put their jackets on. My 16.5 month old DS is in a convertible but still rear facing. It's more of a PITA to put his winter coat on and take it off in the car and then put it back on when we stop. But i still do it. Sometimes, if i am just going from the house to the car and the car to daycare or someones house, i just wrap him in a fleece blanket and run him to the car or house. But if we are going out shopping or something, we just put his winter coat on and take it off in the car.

I try to warm up the car beforehand and then run them out quick without a coat. If it is not that cold I use a thin jacket that can go in car seat.

I bought my kids thin but warm fleece when they were younger and used them in the car.

I warm up the car before hand and put the coats on like a snuggie, backwards with a ski hat/pompom hats on. It is such a PITA and I hate it. I dread going out, but I do it..

We put them in warm, fleece lined sweatshirts and a winter hat.

Any brand of fleece jackets really. Walmart sells fleece hoodies, old navy target. You can't get them anywhere. My friend got something called a car seat poncho for her DD last year and she's still using it. It's a poncho you out on your child and the cr seat straps go underneath it and the poncho hangs over the car seat. It's pretty warm actually.

Yeah dd has a fleece tht I think is a bit too thick. I will look for something thinner.

my twins are 4 now and they have north face jackets, they are very thin and I am totally comfortable using them in the car seat. when they were younger I would get hoodies from gap that were fur lined.

We have north face. Thin and keep them warm enough to and from the car.
