Even more angry
i love how the Dr & Hospital never explained anything to me about the shot... that i would have to wait 3 months, that i shouldn't take vitamins with folic acid... especially my prenatal... seriously... i am lucky that i constantly look stuff up on the net...
i didnt take my prenatal on thursday & friday but i did take it today... i doubt it will do anything just having 1 ....
but just another failure in how this was handled...
ETA: im also supposed to be monitored closely in the week that i was given the shot... my appointment with the dr isnt until wednesday... exactly a week after the shot...

That's crazy that they didn't provide you with better information! I would definitely look into changing doctors at this point.
I learned when I was going through my loss that there are people in that field who are completely stone cold and heartless. It's pretty incredible, actually. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect quality care with accurate information and compassionate doctors.  I'm so sorry you're having this experience and that it's made even worse by the very people who are supposed to be helping you!

same exact thing happened with me! This is why I will never go back to my dr. Unfortunately it takes the "bad" times to see people's true colors.... it's the same with the medial personnel!! When you really need them and they aren't there or aren't informative, etc.... then you know they truly stink at what they do. Leave and never look back. There are FAR better doctor's out there!!
I personally think you should bring this up to the doctor when you have his appt. Just a simple, "any reason no one told me XYZ?" "and dr, just so you know, I had to direct the nurse where to put the needle, What is up with the medical profession these days? They seem more than inadequate." I SWEAR that's exactly what I would say. You have every right to make that dr feel like a small piece of crap. Let them know that you had to learn more from the internet than from their guidance, which is NOT how it's supposed to be!!
I'm actually angry for you. I'd like to call your doctor and say all that to him!!

my mom is threatening to come with me so she can give the dr a piece of her mind...
im going to call my SIL's dr tomorrow morning and make an appointment with him...
hes affiliated with LIJ... which i have no problem with... my SIL's friend works there she does the 3d sonos...

I would find a new doctor. I had a horrible experience with a dr when I first got pg and found a new one right away and unfortunately I started with them when I had my mc, but they handled it great. You need to feel comfortable with who is taking care of you, especially because you are nervous, you want someone who can support you and give you the information that you need. I hope you find someone new that you can feel more comfortable with.

jeez ang that is so messed up... i would have thought (and i actually assumed) that they at least told you what the after-care was like for the shot. i am just astonished (aghast if you will) that they could drop the ball like that.

-no prenatals or any vitamins at all
-avoid folic acid containing foods
-no alcohol
-no unprotected intercourse
-no aspirin or NSAIDS
-avoid Vitamin B
this is for the first month/until your levels drop.
you must wait 3 months before TTC.
so sorry you did not know this beforehand

I didn't get any aftercare booklet at all either after the DNC. My doctor told me I would have cramping for only about 12 hours or so. This was SO NOT even close to the case. I had SEVERE cramping to the point where i could hardly walk.... my cramps lasted for a full 10 days and on the 8th or 9th day I had actual contractions!! I even timed them!!
Then I was told I would only bleed for a few days, meanwhile I bled for a full 2.5 weeks at least!!
What do they really know? Nothing of what they told me was how it was!
This is just one of the reasons I have soooo little faith in doctors and the medical profession as a whole. I just don't trust them!

I didn't feel this way until my D&E but now I have to agree. The dr provided good care as far as I healed quickly and never developed an infection, but the care I received while I was in the hospital was pathetic. I don't know if I would go so far as to say I would a rather deliver with a midwife when the time comes- but it has made me at least consider it!

So i went for my follow up with Dr. Dean last night... i told him how annoyed i was that i didnt receive any aftercare information... like not eating food high in folic acid, not taking prenatals, not takving vitamin b, no unprotected sex, no alcohol... and having to wait 3 months...
he said its only 2 months... and none of the other stuff is important...
i said well i know someone that had the shot two days after me and she was given a laundry list of DO NOTS...
He said my blood should be in today and to call around 4:30... thats what they said last week... and it took 48 hours to hear back...
I forgot to tell him that they didnt know where to give me the shot, i told the nurse tho....
... anyway when my levels are at 0, im definitely going somewhere else...
Also apparently my dad is really ******... my moms cousin called the house while my mom was in Vegas last week and she spoke to my dad... and apparently my dad when off on the doctor to her... i just thought that was funny... my dad is pretty mild mannered most of the time... he said they often give the head of the department title to the guy that does nothing...
well whatever... im actually ok, i think the initial shock of it all has worn off...
