Re: Ever been a guest at a destination wedding?

we went to Jamaica for my hubby's bestfriebd's wedding, it was THE BEST wedding we ever attended, it cost is $1600 per couple, all inclusive (this was also 6 years ago)!!!
We had the best time went from Thurs til Monday (it was presidents weekend), there were about 60 of us so we all took the plane together, it was the greatest time. The ebst part is that I think their entire wedding cost $3000 and it was beautiful!!!Chat Icon If I could do my wedding over I would definitely do a destination wedding, the party lasts for daysChat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Ever been a guest at a destination wedding?

We went to Fh's cousin's wedding at Atlantis in the Bahamas in Novemeber and with airfare, room and everything we spent it cost around $2500 for the 2 of us.

My BFF/MOH is getting married at the Occidental Grand in Aruba in June and it's costing us around the same...The airfare was about $900 for 2 people round trip and the room from was $200 per person, per night (so $415 per night total) so it came to $1400 for 3 nights (thurs, fri & Sat and we're leaving Sunday) But...it's also all inclusive, Atlantis was not.

Now, FH and I are getting married in Vegas at the Four Seasons on September 15th, with roughly 60-70 guests. I won't even tell you what the amount we're spending for the entire wedding is because it's obscene, it is the Four Seasons so it's VERY pricey...(FM me if you want more info) but there are plenty of other hotels and resorts there that are less and it also depends on the size of the guest list.

We picked Vegas vecause we love it and there is so much action and things for us to do with our guests. Also, we didn't want to burden anyone with the additional $100 for a passport you now need to travel anywhere outside the 50 US states.Plus airfare is a lot cheaper and most of the hotels are about $200-250 a night (on the strip) but there are several that are less so our guests have a wide range to select from.

FM me with any questions you have.

Re: Ever been a guest at a destination wedding?

I guess my brother is technically having one- in June - outerbanks of South Carloina

my dad is renting a beach house- so I just have to pay for my BM dress and gas to drive down there- we are staying for 4 or 5 days- and the house is insane

all of his freinds are scattered all over the country- so to them- every wedding is a destination wedding

I can't remeber what the cost was but the Bahamas one was like somewhere from 200. per day all inclusive( maybe a bit moreChat Icon 4 yrs ago)

The reception in Nassau was not as lavish as a NY wedding of ciourse but it was beautiful. They were married on the beach, so romantic.Chat Icon
Cocktail hour was by the pool and the reception was indoors.

Vegas was 5 years ago- I am not sure. If your friend plans a destination wedding - she may be able to get a group rate but sometimes it can be cheaper to book it individually - lots of research is needed.

My friend who was married in Las Vegas actually had the reception @ a reception hall off of the main strip. They had a really cute chapel and the justice of the peace said some beautful words. It was lovely as well

Re: Ever been a guest at a destination wedding?

We are going to a destination wedding in Aruba at the end of March. We decided to make a vacation out of it, so for the week with airfare and all inclusive hotel, it is about 3800. The wedding is at the Aruba resort and casino? but we are staying at the Divi - that's where we got the best deal.

Re: Ever been a guest at a destination wedding?

We are going to a DW in Bermuda for my Uncle in June.

It's gong to cost us over $3000 for a long weekend.

We have to go because it's family, but trust me, DH would have MUCH rather spent that money going to a place WE wanted to go to, not somewhere we are "obligated" to go.

Does that make sense?
