Excessive Dog Barking
I live in a co-op complex. Behind my building is a residential development. Everday the people in the house behind us let their dog out. And everyday the dog barks...non-stop. In the evennings it begins around 6pm and doesnt stop until exactly 10pm. Before i call the police, is there some ordinance that their dog can bark all day but not after 10pm? I am pregnant and am completely frustrated and am losing my patience with the noise...to the point that I screamed out my window, "Bring your ******* dog in the house."
P.S. Evennings is not the only time that the dog barks but it is the most annoying because of the length. During the day it is usually 1 hour or less.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. I uderstand that others in my complex have called the police on them but it does not appear to change anything.

Re: Excessive Dog Barking
You should contact the town. There are definitely rules in my town (Town of Smithtown). Our says 15 continuous minutes in any given hour is cause for a violation.
Good luck!

We're in the Town of Brookhaven and I believe we have the same rule.

Re: Excessive Dog Barking
i would definitely recommend talking to the owners first. i know it's awkward but the owners will appreciate it so much more. i'd be ****** if someone called the town on me and didn't try to resolve it personally. i have a dachshund and he can be barky. we try to keep him quiet but they're dogs. sometimes you really can't do anything about it.

This is not a new problem. It has been going on for months...I guess because I'm pregnant and on bed rest it is bothering me now. I spoke to one of my neighbors and at least 8 people have called the police on these people over the past 6 months. Meanwhile it is raining tonight and the poor thing has been outside for three hours now barking its little head off....i feel like dognapping him/her
