eye exams under 3y

my ped doesn't do this, and I know a lot of peds that don't

I wonder why, I don't understand whether its important or not for babies under 3 to have glasses, if they are acting and playing normally and there is no sign of problems, to get them proactively tested?

not starting a debate, just wonder what the science is behind this

I don't really know the science...but my ped did the screening twice-once at 15 months and repeat at 18 months because the 1st came back with an abnormality. At 18 months I brought her to the opthalmologist and with what my DD has he said that it is an internal thing that i would not notice just by looking at her and supposedly if you let it go till they are 5-6 you won't be able to treat it as well as if you got the glasses at 2-3...but they may have to wear the glasses forever anyway-you wouldn't know until they are older like 12...but what she has can also resolve on its own at 2-3...at 18 months she fell below where she would need glasses-I am bringing her back in a couple of weeks, hopefully it is resolved!

My ped did an eye exam (screening) at DS 1 year and 2 year appts.
