Fair price for this car??
A family member is selling us his 2000 4 Runner. Well maintained, about $60K miles.
$10K sound fair? I have no idea, but we trust this person obviously and know the car is in excellent condition.

Look it up in Kelly's Blue Book and see its book value.

I agree about the blue book. My gut is telling me that $10K is too much money for a 10 year old car.

According to Edmunds (similar to KBB), if the vehicle has absolutely every accessory available, is the Limited 4WD version, and is in Outstanding condition (which no vehicle really is, unless it's a show car and polished and vacuumed every day), it is right at $10,000.
If there is even a slight ding in it, it's not Outstanding.
I think $10k is way too high, especially from a family member. Depending on the options, it should be closer to $8k, maybe $9k

Re: Fair price for this car??
Do they have accurate records of all the maintenance?
Even if they do, I agree with pp- if its family they should be charging you less. Dh is selling his car to his sister- its worth $4-5k and we're selling it to her for the trade-in dealer value of $2500

Re: Fair price for this car??
That sounds REALLY high to me for a 10 year old car, even though it does have low miles. I would go by the KBB value to get an idea of how much it is worth... but I don't think I'd pay anywhere near $10k for it.
