family/kid friendly weekend getaways -Jersey shore , need ideas please
We want to go away for a long weekend for DD's bday next week, we were thinking Jersey shore, stay over for 1-2 nights and come back. Does anyone have any suggestions , ideas where we can go? preferably stay at a hotel/motel close to the beach.
Thank you

go to LBI (Long Beach Island). Extremely family friendly. Right on the main drag are tons of places to eat, shop, amusement parks, mini golf, ice cream shops, etc. The beach is right there too. You'll have to stay in a hotel/motel as beach houses rent from saturday to saturday. Stay in the Beach Haven area, which is the central part of the island, that's where all the attractions are.
Cape May and Wildwood are also family friendly and have nice boardwalks and little towns but are farther than LBI. Cape May is a gorgeous old town, great restaurants, but I think LBI is your best bet.

Wildwood is a fun, family oriented spot. A couple of years ago we rented a condo for a week that was 1 block away from the beach. We found it on Craigs List and it was a really nice place! Brand new construction and nice and clean. It had 3 bedrooms and was very spacious. The majority of the hotels/motels on the shore are pretty skeevy, so I would definitely go by recommendations and not just their websites.

We went to Wildwood recently and it was SO FUN!!! We stayed at the Starlux which was really cute, and updated to be outdated in a retro theme. Right across from the beach, and a little walk to the piers. If you stay at a Morey's Piers resort (which Starlux is, and a few others), you get discount tickets at the Piers (which is really expensive otherwise). Most of the motels there are really outdated, meaning original carpet and furniture from 1950...so make sure you do some research. The condos are nice, but many of them don't have pools. Wildwood Crest seems quieter, but we wanted to be closer to the action.
We had a blast. Soooo family friendly. I wasn't sure what to expect since I had heard not so great things, but saw no partying, just all families. The piers were so fun, so clean, you could eat off the ground! LOL. The waterparks and rides there were great!! The bathrooms were spotless, had changing tables, wipes, lots of sanitizer.
Best vacay we've had in a while!
