Feeding question regarding solids

DS had his 4 month appt yesterday. He has been having rice cerel for about a week and a half and is doing really well with it. The Ped said once he gets used to eating with the spoon we can start him on stage one foods. We are probably going to wait at least another week or so. DS is BF with formula supplement because he is in Daycare and I can't pump enough for him. This is his current eating schedule

6:00 am--nurses
9:00 am--6 oz BM Bottle
12:00 pm--6 oz Formula Bottle
3:00 pm- 6 oz BM bottle
4:00 pm--Rice Cerel
5:30 pm Nurses a little
7:30 pm Nurses before bed

I am going to add another rice cerel sometime in the morning and eventually switch the evening rice cerel to baby food. When in the morning should I give him the cerel (it would have to be at daycare).

Thanks for your help.

Re: Feeding question regarding solids

I'd do it at the 9 am feeding...also did you consider trying barley or oatmeal instead of rice (b4 you start the stage 1 foods)?

If he is not starving at that time then I would do it before bc the goal is to eventually eliminate some bottles - DS started taking a tablespoon of cereal at 9am and I don't give him a bottle at that time anymore - his next bottle after the cereal is usually around 11:30 -12.

Re: Feeding question regarding solids

I give my dd first thing in the morning. At 6am, i gave her cereal. Then when we started fruit, i just added fruit to the cereal instead of the Breast milk.

Now at 8m i just add about 1/4 of the jar of stage 2 fruit to about 2-3 tbsp of cereal, and then give her the rest or whatever amt she wants of fruit left. Shes good at letting me know shes done.
