I had gingerale and saltines at all times just in case. I've heard girls say something about giner tea or ginger candies that also help. Feel better!

Re: Feeling like crap...need advice

I never threw up during my first trimester. I did feel quesy... A LOT!!

I would eat often, lots of carbs, every two hours. I also eat right before going to bed. I sucked on ginger candy and made sure I was hydrated. I also learned to take my prenatal right before bed. That was the worst!

I hope this helps and feel better! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I threw up alot in my first tri and even in my second. What helped me is eating...even if it was the last thing I wanted to do. I tried to never let myself get hungry. I would literally wake up and eat a bowl of cherrios the second I opened my eyes and even ate in the middle of the night too. I still threw up but it definitely cut down on the amount I got sick!

This is exactly what I have to do. It's really tough to eat when your feeling that you can't quite possibly put one piece of food in your mouth. But it makes me feel better instantly.

I hope you feel better soon! Chat Icon

Re: Feeling like crap...need advice

I was super sick in the beginning from week 6-14. I was so nauseous 24-7 that it was hard to even lift my head up. The nights were the worst for me. The things that helped me a bit along the way was eating constantly. Basically I was eating as I was getting sick, awesome right Toast, dry cereal, bagels. I tried all the typical stuff, gingerale, ginger tea and candies with not much luck. I eventually lost more weight than I should have and my doctor wrote me a script for Zofran. It saved my life. I know that seems extreme, but I was so sick that I wasn't getting any nutrition topped with getting no sleep because I was so sick all night. Honestly, I think I had a sort of extreme case (or at least that's what it felt like, ha), but it was the only thing that helped me get through the day. If it gets bad keep that in mind it may help you out a bit.

I should say my sick feeling started to face around week 17. I'm 20 weeks now and although by no means gone it is significantly better. When I am feeling sick now Ice cold water with slices of lemon help as well as sour candies like sour patch kids.

Feel better! It does get better.

Re: Feeling like crap...need advice

I threw up every single morning from 9 1/2 weeks until the day I turned 14 weeks. Before that I was pretty queasy.

At first, the preggo pops really helped or sour sucking candies. But then I couldn't stomach them anymore.

Carbs helped as did keeping my stomach full ALL THE TIME. I was worst in the mornings. Sometimes I'd try to eat some crackers or cookies in the middle of the night when I was waking up to go to the bathroom anyway. It's not always what you want to do at 3 (and 4 and 5) am, but it did seem to help.

I also felt better after I threw up in the mornings.

Believe it or not, working out seemed to help me too. When I exercised, those days I seemed to have an easier time.

Tums helped too. I'd just chew them any time I felt sick to my stomach. I don't know if it was in my head or not.

I hope you feel better! Keep in mind that hormones effect everyone differently, so it's not right or wrong to feel sick, so if there are days you feel better, that's not an indication of anything but that your body is having a better day adjusting to the hormones. Sometimes just knowing that helps you breathe easier and enjoy the "less sick" times.

Pretzels and bagels helped me a bit. But I ended up on Zofran and it was a miracle drug for me...Very safe to take during pregnancy...

I could write your same post. Get Zofran. It is not a miracle drug for me but decreases the vomiting and mostly gets me through the work day. Remember to also take it before you go to sleep to help the mornings.

I feel like there should have been a first trimester disclaimer before you get preggers, " Pregnancy can be harmful to your social life, deplete your sick days, make your house unkempt, make plastic bags and bathrooms your best friends, and leave you feeling fat and ugly"

Re: Feeling like crap...need advice

my doc prescribed me Zofran (anti nausea medicine) It didn't cure me, but it helped. I also never let myself get really hungry because that made everything 10x worse.

Re: Feeling like crap...need advice

I have been the same, I did throw up one day, but the nausea has been 24/7 since 6 weeks, my doc put me on zofran. I could not function so it has really helped me. It will also help you get some food in, keep it bland. Hard candies, oyster crackers and gingerale. My feeling is whatever you can get down that is good.

feel better, I hoping by 12 weeks i will be a whole new person or at least praying.
