feeling overwhelmed about starting research & registry

I am 16 weeks and I honestly dont even know where to start.
We went to BBB to look at strollers, there is just sooooo much out there.
I just feel like its overwhelming and I know that I should start researching now so I can start doing my registry within the next couple of weeks but I'm having trouble getting everything together, I was also going to buy babybargains but im starting to think that the 7th edition from 2007 might be a little updated - with all the new items that come out constantly - is there a point to even bother with the 7th edition? I kno the 8th edition comes out the end of june, but my due date is august - so tahts too late

Do you ladies know of any great websites to help me out?
Or any advice?
Thanks
I am also the first out of friends and family to be pregnant so DH & I are basically on our own

get baby bargains - once you have the book - you can check for updates on their website! They keep the website VERY updated....you will NOT be missing anything!

what i found helped was searching for threads on here that reviewed items, etc. I bookmarked them ALL (seriously, i had so many bookmarks it was insane)....and went through them all when the time came....

Baby Bargins was a godsend. It helped point me in the right direction and then I was able to do more research from there.

i agree with the girls. especially for me being on bedrest, and registering from home. It helped me choose the best product since i cant go and try them myself.

Take a deep breath. You don't have to do it all at once. Use their suggested list of registry items and look stuff up in baby bargains.

I found the stroller the hardest - I actually haven't picked one out still. I would start with easier items - such as high chairs and such.

i know i am sooo confused about the stroller. originally I thought I wanted the uppababy or bugaboo but now im thinking - its such a pain to fold and put in the car so now im completely back to the beginning

I agree with the others about Baby Bargains! You will love that bok.

I also suggest going to BRU or BBB and check out things such as strollers. You can read a lot of reviews on here and other websites but ultimately you will know what stroller works best for you when you try them out.

Good luck and don't stress. Take it one step at a time!

Re: feeling overwhelmed about starting research & registry

also, i don't know where you're planning on registering, but buy buy baby offers "personal shopping" to register. it's free and they basically tell you what's good, what's not, what you need, what's a waste of money, etc. i thought they'd be trying to talk me into things but the woman was actually VERY honest about what i did and didn't need and gave us a really good starting place to customize our registry.

Baby Bargains was helpful but was more helpful is to find someone who had a baby and used things.

Feel free to post on Parenting and ask us for feedback, use Amazon reviews too.

I'm sure many of the new moms would meet you in BRU or BBB to help you out. (Bring your DH)

It's great if you can find someone who had a baby within the last 2-3 years & actually used the items.

It's along the same lines as someone saying "I have the greatest highchair" with a newborn -they haven't used a highchair yet or the bride that says "This photographer is the best" but hasn't seen her photos yet.

Re: feeling overwhelmed about starting research & registry

get baby bargains (ok i see that you did)

and have someone maybe more experienced go w/you to register, or anyone actually...to help you in general

I felt like that too, and although I registered, I'm not 100% sure about EVERYTHING, I think its natural being a first time mom Chat Icon
