Starting to freak out (BUMPED - feeling nostalgic)
Dh has to go back to work on Monday. He has been SUCH a great help while he has been home with me. I do not know how I am going to do being alone with the baby....... I am so scared about not being able to soothe her, her not sleeping for me, etc.....
you may be hearing alot from me next week...wish me luck

Re: Starting to freak out
You will do great. Those are natural fears. I had them too and it was much easier than I thought it would be. After a few weeks you 2 will work out your own routine!

We are all here for you, and you'll surprise yourself with how much you'll go on auto pilot when you're alone. You will do great

Thanks, I am just so nervous...every time I think about it, I start to cry....I hope it does get easier for me, this is so hard...I feel like there is so much pressure on me and she is not even 2 weeks old....I need to get out of this funk.....
Thanks girls

Re: Starting to freak out
Once your hormones level out, you'll be ok. I mean, not for nothing, but who can expect you to be totally confident at doing something that you've never done before? No one should expect that of you, not even you! It's hard, but day by day you will get the hang of it, and eventually, you will be ok with the fact that your job as a mom is to basically deal with the unknown every, single day. I had a really rough beginning, and I feel great about being a mom now! You learn a lot about yourself when you have a baby, you're just at the very beginning of that. Hang in there!

Re: Starting to freak out
I felt the same way, but in a way it's actually easier to be alone. There's noone to bother you when the baby is taking a nap, so you get to lie down and take one too!

Re: Starting to freak out
I felt the same way you did, as did many of us.
I would cry every Sunday when DH went to work. But, you'll see, it will all work out. Now, its a lot easier. When you are allowed out with the baby it will even get better. Its fun to get out and about with your DC.

You will be fine. I cried hysterical the first day DH went back. I cried in the AM and by noon I was like "hmmm, ok, I can do this". We are all here for you! You will do great!

Re: Starting to freak out
funny I was just thinking today how so much has changed in a year! I spent the entire first six months second guessing every decision I made about my DD....now I am much more relaxed and trust my instincts more.
You will be fine and you will surprise youself at how capable you are doing the greatest job in the world.

You'll do great! I think we've all been there to some degree. I was fine with her at home by myself, but I was scared to take her out alone! Once I did it I was fun and now I LOVE going out with her!!!
Good luck! We're here if you need us!!!

Re: Starting to freak out
You are going to be fine. Just follow your instincts and you will be great. I also think it's easier when DH is not around because I don't second guess myself

Re: Starting to freak out
As helpful as Leo is and was, it was a peaceful moment when he walked out the door the first time to go to work When the baby would sleep, I would sleep. I remember being so tired, that I did not want to talk. I also remember setting the stroller up in the bathroom and taking like an hour long shower that day. Shaving and exfoliating...like a catch up shower from all the quickies I have been taking.

Re: Starting to freak out
You will be ok! I panicked a little when DH went back to work, but I actually felt we were able to get into a routine and things were a little calmer.

OMG - I KNOW I will be posting an identical post to this in a few weeks - DH is taking a week off for me and the baby, and then he'll be going off to work while I'm home for another 7 weeks - I KNOW I am going to freak as well!!!!
