Fence permit
Does anyone know, once you have a permit, how long it is before it expires (Town of Smithtown)? I've heard the permit process is lengthy so I wanted to get it started now, though we're probably going to wait a few months til we actually get the fence. I don't want to go through the whole process just to have it expire and have to do it again. TIA!
ADDITIONAL QUESTION: Did getting a permit/fence increase your taxes? I'm getting mixed info on this.

Re: Town of Smithtown fence permit
For Islip, it's one year, then you can renew it for a 2nd year. (for a fee, of course). After the 2nd year, you need a new permit.

Re: Town of Smithtown fence permit
Thank you! Is there usually a fee with the initial permit? I read the app and instructions and don't see anything re: payment.

Re: Fence permit
When we got our fence, the fence company got the permit. They too care of the payment.

Re: Fence permit
Wow that's great! That never even struck me as an option. I'll have to ask as I get estimates. Thanks!

Re: Fence permit
Thanks for the responses. It's amazing how much diff info you get. My builder told me it will raise my taxes - family/friends who have done it say they won't. Well...here's hoping.
