Feral cat trap is set

Feral cat trap is set.. and we wait. We caught one cat in about 5 minutes - but we think he is owned by a family, he's too fat to be a stray. Chat Icon So we let him go.

Now, just waiting for 1 of the other 5... of course it's been a half hour and nothing yet.

I have 2 neutering appointments for Thursday morning.... come ooon kitties!

We got one kitten late last night around 10:45. He's now living in our basement in a huge dog crate until the big appointment on Thursday. Hoping that we can get one of his siblings or parents tonight.

Re: Feral cat trap is set

We did this a few years ago. Just an FYI don't be surprised if you catch a few raccoons or possums first! LOL

Just the one so far. Trap has been out since 6, but no nibbles yet. I feel bad for the kitty in our basement, he just meows all the time in that low baby kitten meow.

A stray cat had 4 kittens under our deck.... so we've had 5 cats living under there, and if we don't neuter them there will probably be 20 soon.

If anyone wants the cutey kitty... s/he's getting fixed tomorrow!!! Chat Icon

Today we let kitty number 1 go - I felt so bad, sending him back into the cold. Chat Icon

Tomorrow we will try to get 2 more, for Tuesday's vet appointment.

Re: Feral cat trap is set

Try putting tuna in the trap...you may have better luck with something smelly.

We've been using sardines, along with the regular cat food we've been giving them. DH handles the sardines part! Chat Icon

If we dont get any nibbles after half of the day today, we'll switch over to Tuna to see if that is better.

We got 2 grey tabby kittens - within a half hour of putting out the traps. Tuesday's the big day for these guys! I've been telling them they are going on a plastic surgery vacation, to the warmth and constant food of our basement.

It was funny, one of the kittens disengaged the trap while the other one was inside, locking him in. Chat Icon

These kittens are more scared than the black one was - I'm glad that we got them both at the same time so they can comfort one another.

We also saw the black kitten we let go yesterday, he was eating some of the sardines that were left over from today's trapping. I think he's still doing good. Chat Icon

These kittens don't seem to realize that the box is for both #1 and #2....

Two grey tabby girls have just been released.... Chat Icon

One more to go - the mother!

We will try to trap her on Monday for a Tuesday appointment. She's a smart cookie, I don't know if we'll be able to get her.

Re: Feral cat trap is set

god bless you!!! what a great thing you are doing!!!

we did this with the one and only stray to ever venture into our yard. we had him fixed, brought back to the yard and released and since then (he didn't hold a grudge lol) we feed him daily and my mom is the ONLY one he lets pet him! he loves her! she bought him an igloo and put a heating pad inside for him during the winter Chat Icon
