Fifths Disease
So my daughter wasn't feeling great, her cheeks were flushed so I brought her to the pediatrician. I also have not been feeling great and had a strange rash on my arms and legs. Pediatrician looks at both of us and says we have fifths disease. She said once the rash comes out u are no longer contagious. But omg I am in so much pain in my joints and i just feel like such crap. I googled it it and I am textbook for it as an adult (thankfully DD is nowhere as bad as me). Has anyone had this as an adult? Please tell me this will subside soon??

I haven't but my DD has. She had strep right after it. I caught the strep but mentioned to my PCP she had fifths the week before. She told me it is nothing for kids mainly fever and rash maybe runny nose. But adults can get very bad achy swollen joints and feeling miserable for a while. She mentioned most adults had it as a kid so you don't know many adult who get it.

Thank u. Exactly my DD really isn't too bad. Im in so much pain I feel like I can't even function :(

My Mother was a school librarian and caught it from kids in her school. She was in such terrible pain that she was brought to the ER.
Then I got it and I was 28 weeks pregnant. The joint pain was terrible. I begged the Doctor to put me in the hospital. It lasted a few days. Had to monitor the pregnancy very closely.
It is terrible, but it does pass. Hang in there!

I just said this to m dh last night! I really felt like I needed to go to the ER. I was actually in tears from the pain (so not like me). Thankfully this morning it seems a little better. I was really scared last night.

Fifths Disease
I had it last May (I work in an elementary school). I had a low grade fever for five days. About a day later I broke out in the rash. My joints hurt for about a week after, especially in my fingers.

I had it like 3 years ago. I didn't even know what it was. I was extremely tired went to the doc and had me get blood tests done and the tests came back that I was more anemic than usual and my liver enzymes were off. A few days later my wrists were killing me. I had completely no idea that I had it. So I had to go to so many docs to make sure it was RA. Make a long story short I google the symptoms and found out that had it. It lasted maybe a week or so. It wasn't as bad as other people get it.
Docs didn't even know....feel better
