first af after delivery
what was it like?  ftm here and just curious...is it heavy or spotting like? i had my 6wk checkup with the ob and have been spotting after... wondering if it's af

Just got mine and had to cancel my 6 week appt. It started with some brown spotting and then turned into my regular flow. So it's pretty much the same. Only thing that's different for me is I'm not cramping like I always did on the first day. Instead I was feeling some pain the day before on one side. I actually thought I was ovulating, but I guess not. That's the only thing throwing me off but maybe after feeling labor pains my body is numb to period cramps

12 weeks and STILL no AF! I really hope I'm not prematurely menopausal! And I only BF for 4.5wks.
Sorry, I'm no help to you. My friend just had hers and said It was "bad".

For me it happened a few days after my 6 week appt. It was a full blown period, pretty heavy but had no cramps or lower back pain like I usually had prior to pregnancy. 19 months later I still have no cramps and my AF is very heavy.

I didn't get mine until a year pp and it was really light. You might just be spotting from the exam.

i had some breakthrough bleeding once i started BC again, but haven't had a real period since DS, almost 7 months now.

It started as a few days of spotting- I wasn't even sure what it was- I thought maybe my post partum bleeding had returned.
Then it came on FULL FORCE and it was the heaviest AF of my life!
I actually called my OB to make sure it was normal- I thought I was bleeding to death!
They assured me it was normal.
Ever since then, my AF has been much heavier than it used to be before having a baby.

Same here!!The first AF, I almost called 911 it was so heavy. It got better, but it never went back to the way it was before having DS.

I BF for 4 months and didn't get my first AF until 5 months post partum. It was very slight spotting. The next AF was just a tiny bit heavier but nothing like they were pre pregnancy and I have never had heavy AFs. I guess they will come back to normal slowly.

I exclusively BF and I am  that I got my 9 weeks pp! Same with my other 2 kids as well, so I don't know why I was so surprised again
Anyway, it was very light, nothing outrageous. Really can't complain. It was my first AF in 11 months! It probably isn't so bad since I do BF.
