Re: First Dentist visit?
I took my DD at 3 and my DS at 2 bec I took them together..I prob should have taken my DD earlier...but oh well! She had a good checkup and sat nicely for the dentist...unlike my 2 yr old that was torture for everyone..lol... so maybe a little older was a little better
good luck!

Re: First Dentist visit?
AJ was 2.. I had to use her dental insurance before I dropped her from our plan. I have no intentions of taking her this year for any major work but will try to fit in a regular visit.
Insurance cost too much to insure my own child. Oddly enough it was cheaper to drop her and keep me and my husband who both have excessive work that is needed. Someone else explain THAT to me!
anyway...
It was just a visit to count her teeth. They told me she has an over bite but so do I so I don't really care. Doc didn't seem that worried either. Just a wait and watch type thing.
I didn't go to a pediatric dentist specialist. I went to my dentist who has two children (4 & 7) and who treats children in her practic. She was great. Plus I had experience with the dentist and staff so it was easy for us to walk in because *I* knew everyone already and the dentist could talk about my teeth to AJ without me opening my mouth. To prove she was telling the truth AJ looked in my mouth to find the 'gold' and sure enough, there it was.
ETA: AJ was a breeze. Sat by herself and everything. Opened her mouth on request (mostly - she got tired after a bit of it). We practiced at home with a small flash light ... Looking into eachother's mouths. Practiced for months actually.

Re: First Dentist visit?
I work in a dentist office. I took DD there right before she turned 3.

Re: First Dentist visit?
DS is going with me when I go next month; he's 19mo.
the dentist told me to bring him in just to sit him on my lap and get a quick check up. I dont think its going to be anything invasive.
I want to keep on top of DS teeth since as a kid i didnt have good dentists and needed braces as an adult for 3 years. I'd like to avoid that for DS.

Re: First Dentist visit?
I was going to take her soon (she is 2.5 in a week), but we just got a new dentist and he said they take them starting at 3 unless there is a problem before then. So, 6 more months for us!
