First Doctor's Visit - 8 weeks. Is it okay to take my ...
nearly 3 year old with me and my DH? I dont think they draw blood today just check weight, give me my EDD and do the internal scan right? Last time I went by myself as I didnt think they would do a scan.
Did your DH go to your first appointment with you and for those with kids did you take yours?
TIA

dave has so far been to every appointment with me - but i've been careful to make the appointments on his days off..
so far - FOR ME - they have taken blood at every OB appointment i've gone to (for one reason or another)...
one thing - if they are doing an internal - they may allow you to hear the heartbeat - and that may be something you want DH to hear..
Have fun & good luck!

My DH goes with me to my visits when I am going to have a sonogram. I actually brought my mom to my first sono also! My OB has never had a problem with me bringing a "guest" to my appointments!

My 8 week apt was the longest one of my PG - they took about 8 vials of blood, did a sonogram and DH and I sat with the Dr. for at least a half hour going over medical histories and Do's/Don'ts of pregnancy.
Have you already had you first appt, where they do all of this?

No this is my first appointment but second pregnancy so I dont know how intensive the talk with the doc could be as it s all basically the same as the last time.

okay, but my first appointment with my OB (was with an RE first 8 weeks) - was about 8 vials of blood - like PP mentioned and it was all that talk with the OB about family history, etc...
HOWEVER, it also included an u/s where the tech let us see the baby for a good 15 minutes or so - and heard the heartbeat, etc... it may be something he doesn't want to miss...

I guess I am more concerned about my DD being scared than anything else - its normal for me but she has never seen me in a hospital robe and with the doctor and nurse there etc I dont know....DH wants to go and we have no babysitter ......maybe I will just wing it and see how she is.
I am SO excited as i have been waiting for this appointment for 4 weeks.!
Thanks

Okay, then why not have DH sit in the waiting room with DD while you are being examined, having the blood taken...but when it's time for the u/s - have them both come in.
Maybe while he's in the waiting room - he can explain to DD that you're going to get to see the baby on the tv screen too!

Oh sure he can. When we were having DS#2 we didn't have anyone to watch DS#1 so he had to come. With this one, if I can make it at a time when DS#1 is in school then that would be key. For my 12 week ultrascreen though, I asked my in-laws to take the boys. Those take longer and we took DS#1 with us for DS#2 and is was hard to really concentrate on the scan.
Hope you could follow all of that.
Just wanted to add that they will probably take blood to test your levels but DC should be fine.
Congrats and good luck)
