First internal/group B strep test
So tomorrow I am going for my first internal and also getting the group B strep test. I am very anxious about both because I heard it can hurt, or be very uncomfortable..
Am I hearing right??
TIA

Re: First internal/group B strep test
the strep B test is nothing. they take a qtip and swipe from the vagina straight down. its over in a second.
internals depend on the person. i found my first one uncomfy and i had gotten a few and found it was less annoying each time. some girls dont mind them at all. my first one i remember wanting to climb up the table but it was more because my ob was pushing up in there and i felt like she was pushing me up the table lol again, its short and totally bearable even if its uncomfy. my best advice is to just relax and try not to tense up, its over in a few seconds

Re: First internal/group B strep test
I had 2 internals last week... from everything ive read on here I was completely freaked out and probably very tense because of it. Even still, it was AT MOST uncomfortable for a few seconds. I wouldn't even use the word "painful" to describe it. Try to stay relaxed and GL!

Re: First internal/group B strep test
Honestly I was so afraid of this because I heard that it was painful. But it was just a little uncomfortable. Not painful at all and over in a few seconds. I actually think getting a PAP is worse.

Re: First internal/group B strep test
The internals never hurt for me until I was in hard labor and the strep B is nothing. it is a swab of your vagina and butt !!! Good luck!

Re: First internal/group B strep test
The strep B is nothing. They just use a Q-tip to swab you. I hardly even felt it.
The internal... that seems to depend on the doctor. I've heard plenty of women describe it as "uncomfortable," but mine was definitely painful. Either way, it lasts less than 10 seconds, so you can handle it! It's over as soon as it begins.
Good luck with the appointment!

Re: First internal/group B strep test
My internals have been uncomfortable but I wouldn't call them painful. The strep B was no big deal at all.

Re: First internal/group B strep test
I got my Strep B test yesterday (not an internal though- that's next week).
It wasn't bad at all. Took like 1 second. Just swabbed me with a cotton swab. A bit uncomfy for that one second, but I felt fine afterwards.
Good luck!
