First Timers
Am I the only one who feels totally lost. We register for all this stuff and no one shows us how to use it. Am I alone? Maybe it's because I'm only a couple of weeks from my due date that I'm starting to feel really anxious but I still don't know if I'll ever know how to use everything.

Re: First Timers
I can relate. I do have some experience, as I work in a preschool, and have a toddler niece and nephew, but it is a little scary to think my husband and I will be dealing with all this with our OWN baby in a matter of days!! I definitely recommend getting a good support system in place (like all of us here!!), Mom, MIL, and friends that have babies. That way, you can ask all the questions that you think are stupid, but people are so willing to help! I'm sure the Parenting board on here is definitely going to be as non-judgmental and super-helpful as this board has been!! You'll be great- try not to stress it (easier said than done, I know)! SO many BTDT moms have told me that you basically learn as you go in a lot of ways, and soon it all becomes second nature! Look how many people have done it before with no experience!!

Re: First Timers
I know what you mean. I have some experience - 12 nieces and nephews, but still that's not the same as your own. I freaked out last night, DH put together the stroller and I can't put in and take out the car seat part with out banging it! Something so simple, guess everything just takes practice, and as DH said, I'll be more careful when baby is here.

Re: First Timers
I was in your exact place just a little more than a year ago. I had no kids in the family let alone babies, and I'm pretty young so I didn't have many friends with children at that point. I was beyond scared. But I will tell you the second that you hold that little baby in your arms, that all melts away. It's as if your mommy instincts just start going just from that point. Are there still things that are going to confuse you or make you nervous, you bet, but it gets easier as you go along. You learn quickly, and becomes second nature very quickly.
And of course if you have questions, don't hesitate to write them here, I'm sure many BTDT would love to help!

Re: First Timers
I haven't let myself really think about actually USING all the baby things yet It can be very daunting!!! We are going to take a Baby Care class (it's actually baby care, feeding, and infant cpr) but hopefully they'll go over some important things.
