Fitness centers
I will be moving to Nassau county. I would like to join a new gym.
However, I keep looking at various ones and I plan to visit equinox. The closest one would be Woodbury
Does anyone belong and is it really super expensive? I want to see about getting a trainer for a while.. but will I have to donate a kidney here?

Re: Fitness centers
Equinox is not cheap....I've heard over $100 a month for dues....not sure on trainer prices. Lifetime just opened in Syosset and while monthly dues are similar it offers a lot more. I heard trainers at Lifetime range from $75 to $125 an hour.

Thank you and YES that is way expensive.
I do appreciate the info. Maybe I will look at this Lifetime gym too.

Re: Fitness centers
Getting different reviews and I'm still getting Equinox as a little better than lifetime.
Still have to research.

Re: Fitness centers
Where in Nassau County are you looking to move to? Afterall, it's a pretty big place.
I don't currently belong to a gym, but if I lived on the South Shore, there's no way I'd want to be driving to the North Shore to hit the gym, KWIM?

Re: Fitness centers
Planet Fitness was rated one of the top best gyms. It's pretty new and there are several locations throughout Nassau.
I belong to NYSC but have the plan where I can go to any gym at any time (I work in the city and live in Nassau) and I pay $75/month.

Re: Fitness centers
Lifetime is very family friendly. Many activities for children. Rock climbing wall, basketball, huge child center with activities all day. They also have 4 pools, 2 indoor and 2 outdoor with an outdoor waterslide. They have a large cafe with reasonable prices as well. Lifetime is open 24/7 for the workout floor and pool. They have plenty of equipment and a huge strength training area. The downside to them is you have a lot of kids wandering around the workout area even though if they are under 12 they arent supposed to be there.
If you have no kids or dont plan on taking them with you to the gym, equinox is an amazing gym. They have plenty of machines. They also have the TRX and ViPR training classes which LT doesnt have. They are open m-th 5:30-10:30, fri 5:30-9, sat 7-8, sun 7-7. It is nice working out with no kids running around.
Both have the same treadmills and ellipticals, ipod and nike+ enabled.
If you have anymore questions please ask. Besides pricing, I am very familiar with both
