FLU SHOT! ?
Nope - no thank you - I'll pass. I had the flu shot two years in a row a few years back. Both times, I ended up with aches and fatigue that started a couple days after the shot and lasted for over 2 weeks. Even had me missing a couple days on the job. I know that you can't get "the flu" from the flu-shot - but the side effects were way too similar for me.....and way to debilitating for way too long. If its going to leave me in that state, I can't feel comfortable subjecting little nugget to it in utero. I work in a city hospital - once flu season officially hits, all those employees who decided against vaccination have to wear a mask whenever they are around the patients. Same deal last year. I actually don't mind at all. Now, instead of just being protected from the 1 or 2 strains of flu that this vaccination is supposed to cover, I'll be protected from every little bug out there with my mask. :)

On the fence about it. DH and I both got the flu 2 years ago it was awful, but heard mix things about the shot.

FLU SHOT! ?
I am 11 weeks and got the preservative free version of the flu shot this past weekend. I am a teacher and interact with hundreds of kids a day, many of whom don't cover their mouths when they cough, or properly cover their noses when they sneeze. I even question if many of them wash their hands with soap and warm water after using the bathroom (EW!). With that being said, it was a no brainer for me. I always got the flu shot since becoming a teacher and the one year I didn't, I got the flu and it knocked me on my a$$ for close to 2 weeks. No thank you!

Re: FLU SHOT! ?
I was on the fence, leaning toward getting it bc I have a 3yo in school but my perinatologist recommended against it, so I didnt get it. I may get it after baby is born, we'll see.

FLU SHOT! ?
Definately getting it. Pregnant women can't get the regular shot, there is a special one. Walgreens was all out of the special one last night, else I would have already had it.
Google it... The common MYTH is that you get the flu when you get the flu shot. The shot is dead. The shot doesn't cover ALL strains, so some strains of flu you could still get, and if you get a strain that was covered by the shot you will have lesser symptoms. It takes 2 weeks for it to become fully effective in you.

Re: FLU SHOT! ?
I will be getting it at my next OB appointment in two weeks. I got it last year for the first time and while I was reluctant, the benefits definitely outweighed the risks for me. My DH had the flu in 2012 and I have never seen him so sick. His fever was through the roof. Fever can be so dangerous for a pregnant woman. He was out of work for a week (and probably should have been out longer) and I can't afford to use that time now when I want it with the baby! I like that the benefits will also be there for the baby when it is born.
