Flying with DC....should I bring original birth certificate or a copy?
He is sitting on our laps but I want to have ID for him...is a copy sufficient?

I just flew with both of my boys, DS1 is 4 and had his own seat, DS2 is almost 2 and he sat on my lap.
I brought their original birth certificates (only because I didn't get the chance to make a photo copy). They never checked their birth certificates. When I left NY I handed them to the security and he said he didn't need to see them.
When I arrived at our second airport(MSP) I had an overnight since my flight was cancelled. When I went through security the next day, I never handed the BC to them and they didn't ask.

Always a copy. We haveit scanned into the computer so I just printa color copy whenever I need it. It looks like an original because of the color printing.

Wow I've never brought any kind of proof even when DD was old enough to need her own ticket except when we flew out of the country I had her passport. Just curious has anyone ever HAD to show it?
