Food for picky dogs

This is a spin-off to my earlier post about my cavalier throwing up bile every now and then. He's never been a good eater.
He's been on Wellness food since birth. I've played with different types within the wellness line and he'll seem better for a time, but then revert back to being not too excited by it. He'll eat when he's really hungry (I've even heard him chowing down at 4 am), but now that I'm learning why we're seeing little piles of bile, I'm thinking it's time to find a food he'll eat more of.

He does best on Wellness small breed food. We used to add a couple of spoonfuls of wet wellness food too, but he even grew bored with that so we stopped.

I think it's time to experiment again.
So, can anyone recommend a good quality dog food that even picky eaters like?

my moms dog (a maltese) is a very picky eater.... when she was a puppy the vet told her to feed her baby food so for years she was eating stadge 3 baby food Chat Icon now she will only eat ceasers wet food with a very small amount of iams dry mixed it. my neighbors dogs will only eat if they put grated cheese on top Chat Icon they also sell those sauces made just for dogs.

Honestly I'd stop free feeding first, before changing food. That can cause stomach upset in itself. Wellness is a pretty rich, high quality food right? It's possible his tummy can't handle it and you might have to downgrade to something that isn't as rich.

We feed Evo Herring & Salmon and although my sensitive tummy boy Brinkley deals with it just fine, our girl Ginger has occasional gas. Chat Icon

Thanks for the feedback. I do want to stop free-feeding, especially with a baby on the way who will one day crawl and be into everything—I'd rather not always have food in his dish. I saw your comment on my other post. I'll try it. Thanks!

Re: Food for picky dogs

I give my dog hills low allergy in the morning,, at night I mix it with wet ceasars lamb only.. She is the pickiest eater ever so I always break off a treat and put it on top and she gobbles it up .. She has the empty stomach syndrome as well.. I give her 1 baby carrot every night before she goes to bed..
