Food Question for BTDT moms...

OK Ladies-

We started DD on cereal last weekend. She has been doing great with it now both am and pm. She is eating about 1-1/2 tablespoons a feeding.

Tonight we are starting green veggies (another exciting night at our house!). I was just wonder how much of the veggies do I feed her. (I have the Gerber Organic container of Peas). Also do I feed her the same amount of cereal with the peas?

TIA

They usually advise to start the jarred food in the a.m. - or anything new actually, so you can watch for a reaction.
We started 1/2 jar per feeding and 1TBSP cereal. You can see how she does and adjust accordingly.

Re: Food Question for BTDT moms...

Our ped. gave us a schedule and said to start Veggies in the PM. I've heard mixed things from a lot of people and I decided to follow my ped. directions because she has been awesome every since DD has been in NICU plus she is also a mother which helps.

The peas went over like a lead balloon. She did not like them at all - her facial expressions were priceless. My question now is can I try a different veggie like green beans or even a yellow veg. (carrots, squash) or do I have to do peas for 3-4 days before introducing something new?? We are planning to start fruit in the am on Wed. when we are off.

Aww, sorry she didn't enjoy them. You're supposed to do 3 days in a row of each food to gauge if there is an allergy.

Did you give it to her straight up or mix it in with the cereal? You might get it in easier if you give it with oatmeal or whatever cereal you give.

I agree, green veggies gave DS gas so his PM nap sometimes was interrupted but by bedtime he was all better and woudl sleep right through.

We started with 1/2 a jar and i think by the time we started veggies/fruits DS was up to about 3tbsp of cereal

Like the PP said I woudl stick with peas. I think they say it can take up to 10 times for a child to accept a new food!
