? for a friend about 22 month old not sleeping
My friend is 5 months pg (so she is already tired) and her 22 month old has been waking up at 3:30-4:30 for WEEKS now and staying up. She has tried multiple things- going down to sleep earlier, napping earlier, a new diego pillow, etc. He is wide awake. She has let him CIO, he actually fell asleep standing up in his crib when she did this, but was back up again at 4 the next morning. SHe is losing her mind -any insight is appreciated.

Re: ? for a friend about 22 month old not sleeping
He is probably going through a stage and may be anticipating the new baby...they sense that mommy's "not the same". My co-workers son did the same thing when she was pregnant. She tried everything...sleeping with him, letting him sleep with them, laying on the floor, cutting out naps, everything. Ultimately she had to let him CIO and learn he had to stay in his bed. If you give in once, they will take advantage of that. It may be tough for a week or so, but in the long run it will work out best for her instead of establishing a habit.

Re: ? for a friend about 22 month old not sleeping
When I was pregnant with #3 my ds #2 started waking up in the middle of the night also and my ped recommended CIO. He said to stick with it for a week could be less and I did even though it was very hard and upsetting but after 3days he stopped waking up.
