Re: for catholic girls re: baptism
Well this is our first child, I was thinking between 2 and 4 months. Not sure, I guess we'll have to check w/ our parish on that.
Spinoff ques: Are you choosing Godparents before the baby is born? And if so are you asking them before the baby is born?

Re: for catholic girls re: baptism
baby is officially due 8/12, unofficially due 7/30 --- we're planning on 9/27. I already called the church and started to make arrangements. So I guess anywhere from 6-8 weeks?

Re: for catholic girls re: baptism
About 6 mos old. We want to have the christening in Greece, most of my DHs family is there and we decided since a lot of them couldnt make it to the wedding then it would be nice for his family to be there for the baptism.
ETA: we will have a party on LI when we come back with my family and our friends.

Re: for catholic girls re: baptism
our DC is due the beginning of Jan. So we'll probably baptize him/her the end of March or beginning of April. So about 4 months.

Re: for catholic girls re: baptism
this is a toughie for me.
I am due mid October.
I don't want to go from hospital to church, but basically anything more than a month is smack dab in the middle of the holiday season.
and then after that, dh starts tax season...and I didn't really want to do it then.
so, the baby will most likely either be baptised as soon as it leaves my womb, or not until about 6-7 months..which I kinda feel badly about.
I mean, it could be done during tax season, but it's crappy weather, plus dh is working like a dog...I just don't know.

Re: for catholic girls re: baptism
DD was 8 months by the time we were able to arrange everything.
This one, I am shooting for the 2 month mark but if not it will probably have to wait until 6 months (we are OOS and want to do it in NY where our family is).

Re: for catholic girls re: baptism
Probably at least 4 months. I'm due in mid-December and I don't want to do it in Jan or Feb because a lot of guests will be travelling and I live "north and west" of NYC. March doesn't work for my father in law, he is busy every weekend marching in St Patrick's day parades so I think April will be the earliest we will do it.

Re: for catholic girls re: baptism
my offical due date is 7/24 but apparently she can come any day after 7/2 and the christening is booked for 8/23 so she will be anywhere between 4-6 weeks old. my family likes to do it early. and my oos brother who is the godfather will be up then so it just worked out for the best!
as far as the god parents go.. we asked before the baby is due.. we asked 2 weeks ago. his sister my brother.

Re: for catholic girls re: baptism
My son was four months old.
This baby is born in October - I will wait until probably February - so he will be four months also.
We asked my sons godparents as soon as we found out we were pregnant since we knew who they would be.
This time I asked the godmother - we are still deciding on a godfather - and won't ask until after the baby is born.

Re: for catholic girls re: baptism
I am due 12/13 but delivering week before more than likely repeat c/s....
Because of lent- I either have to do before Ash Wed which is mid-Feb or end of April... my church doesn't baptize during Lent.
One hand wants me to do Feb but the other wants me to wait until end of may for the nicer weather when DC would be older...
Honestly- the whole thing really hinges on the financials of having a big party!

Re: for catholic girls re: baptism
Kaila was a little over 5 months.. and I plan on waiting the same for the new baby too. Kaila wore a beautiful gown and if we have a I'd love to be able to use it again.
I also dont want to do it during the holidays (due in September) and January is DD's birthday month and SIL's due date

I hope to do it as early as possible. I guess it depends on when the Church does Baptisms.

Re: for catholic girls re: baptism
I'm due at the end of October and at least want to wait until she has her shots, which I assume will be right around Christmas. She will probably be 4 or 5 months old when we baptize her.
I hate that it will be right in the middle of flu season.
