for fun: did you yell, scream, or make grunting noises when you were in labor or while pushing?

thinking back on my labor and delivery, i really didnt make much noise at all.
but i remember hearing a woman in the next room from us sounding like she was having an or gasm when she was pushing!

i had been pushing for around 3 hours and i remember my midwife telling to me to go ahead and get angry and shout.. anything to push that baby out but i wasnt very vocal...
were you?

Nope. I thought I would be yelling while I was pushing, but I was just concentrating on getting DS out.

I was like you, VERY quiet. And i appreciated that my midwife took my lead and was nice and quiet too.

before I got my epidural I cursed throughout each contraction, pretty much a steady stream of f,f,f

nothing, i pushed for 15 minutes
(no epdiural)

I pushed for 2 hours and I remember screaming through the pushes quite a bit. It's actually kinda funny b/c I am such a quiet person!

i wasnt vocal either. i did have an epi though so all i really did was grunt during pushing. but i labored for a few hours on my own with bad contractions from pitocin and i didnt scream then either.

there was a woman across the hall who came in at the very end of her labor so i guess she couldnt get pain meds b/c she was screaming like a loon. we heard her with the door to my room closed. not something you want to hear while pushing..LOL

no, not at all. during the intense contractions, i did bite FH.

I was totally knocked out so I'd hope I didn't make any noises since they put me to sleep... now, when I woke up in the recovery room... I'm sure I was moaning in lots of pain.

I'd rather die than make a scene - So there was no yelling or screaming or cursing or any of that .......

I did get to a point of whimpering and crying to my DH when they made me CONTINUE to wait for the epidural .......

oh i did whimper and cry!! when i felt like i couldnt push any longer.
i just felt like there was no end to the pushing!! i broke down twice!!

For the most part I was quiet but I had my moments when I yelled.

I laughed at the doctor once because I was ready to hit him and laughing was the only reasonable thing I could do at that moment.

And I started to curse when the doc told me not to yell. I hope he left the practice because I REALLY don't want to get stuck with him again.

I had a really quick labor thank g-d!! On the way to the hospital I just kept saying please make it stop over and over again.. DH still laughs about it... Once I got to the hospital I didn't wait long for an epi and didn't make a peep even during pushing, but I only pushed for about 15 mins..

I didn't curse or yell but I probably grunted like a pig, but I can't really remember.

No screaming, yelling or grunting for me. I did let one curse out but even that was pretty quiet.

For my first labor, there was a lot of screaming down the hall. So much so, DH told me to hurry up because she was going to have the baby first. I said "This is not a race." Just what the parenting board needs. Competitive birthing.

Pushing for 3 years, hells yea I screamed and yelled. And my nurse, whom I HATED told me to BE QUIET! She said she doesnt care for screamers and it does nothing to get the baby out..well I basically told her to go F herself and continued yelling. It didnt help though, I needed a c. LOL

I think I was fairly quiet, so I just asked DH, and he said I was mostly moaning through the contractions. During pushing I was quiet bc I was concentrating.

I did cry and tell DH wanted to go home before I got the epi though.

no while I was pushing for 2 HOURS, not at all.

I did curse A LOT, during the contractions while I was in the "transition" phase.

I didn't speak at all while I was pushing. My Dr. and the nurses kept asking me questions about names we had picked out and what we thought we were having (team ) I ignored everyone, I didn't even answer their questions. I pushed for less than 30 minutes.

I mostly cried very quietly - and copiously. But when the urge to push came and the doctor told me I had to resist pushing - I let out a howl.
